Three questions:- Has anyone had any dealings with a builder called Dervis Babayigit. I am encountering some problems with this builder and would be interested to hear if anyone else is? On or off board. Im told that the PCO's solicitor has resigned. Does anyone know if she has been replaced? This would only leave Tugce and the admin lady to my count. And the big one, The Ministry now have hold music whilst you wait to hear the phrase "awaiting the millitary". A nice touch Im sure you will agree. Im looking for suggestions of what music should be played. I suggest, If I could turn back time and Its a long long road.

Hi speedypaul, 1 Sorry I cannot help with the builder. 2.The solicitor has been moved to the Interior Dept. I do not believe she has been replaced. 3 As to a suitable tune. "If only I could live my life again" Dorothy Squires seems appropriate. Good luck, wyn

speedypaul do know of the builder, and they also own a hotel in Zeytinlik as well I think. Can't really give you an opinion, but have heard that they are not the best, but that does not mean they are no good!

There are reputable lawyers and builders/developers here but the bad ones are pulling the good ones down with them. If the Specific Performance Law was changed and the KDV was payable direct to the tax office, then it is a win-win situation for everyone. The buyer gets their title deeds, the tax office and government get their money and the developers deliver what they contractually promised. There are not enough signatures on the petition. If people are worried, they can sign the petition anonymously. People also have to consider what will happen if their vendor dies without transferring the title to the buyer. In this case the property will become part of the estate and will be dealt with by probate. This can cause even more problems and headaches for people, especially if the vendor has debts. Without a change in this law, it means you cannot take action against your vendor to compel them to transfer the title deeds to you. Thus some unscrupulous developers are not adhering to their side of the contract and are not willing to transfer the deeds to the buyers, using this a leveridge to extract extra funds from purchasers. Please see this weeks edition of Cyprus Today (June 21-27), who are covering this very important issue. http://www.hbpg-trnc.net/documents/Press/CT210608_SP_petition.html The petition was started some time ago by Ismet Ustuner, a very helpful and knowledgeable member of this board where legal matters are concerned. The petition is backed by the HBPG. This is the link to the petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/peti ... index.html Sibel

Thanks Sibel - When I hear the majic words "permission granted" obtaining the Kocan from the builder will be he next great hurdle (plus finishing the site and providing the electric and water). Of course there is no great insentive for him to do this as this will mean he has to pay his taxes as will we. A change in the law as per the petition would be very welcome.
