Does anybody know how Esdeger land was originally selected? In otherwords, what criteria did the TRNC governement use to select one piece of land for a displaced TC as opposed to another piece of land

Really difficult to find the answer to this one. One looks at many different statistics regarding how many GC fled to the South and how many TC fled from the south to the north and even explore figures taken from 74 land registers and the only thought you are left with is boy what a mess and the figures just don't stack up! The GC government who continue to play a brilliant propaganda game, do nothing at all to help their GC people who truely want(or need) to receive compensation. I have read many articles where families are too afraid to claim compensation because of the political consequences. Surely it would not be difficult to do a search and discover what land/propery is still deemed legally owned by GC that stilll have the original legal title deeds? I know if such a thing existed and you could simply by doing a literature search, find out who were the true, legal owners of the property/land people might have a better insight into the true meaning of esdeger and tmd title deeds. Perhaps more importantly what the future may hold.

Thanks for answering Bradus. The land title thing is such a mess. I cannot see anyway for the property situation to be resolved without massive upheavel and lots of pain. It would be madness to open those wounds again.

When the GC's said no to the Annan plan they missed their chance. As Kofi Annan said 'there is no other solution to the Cyprus issue, if there was we would have come up with another plan'.

The sensible thing would be for the GC's to claim their compensation, be thankful that they live on a beautiful island and enjoy the freedom of movement they have now to the North (unless I am missing something). Of course people are not sensible.
