Love Efendi but No 14 has the edge it's fantastic. Both are situated in the old quarter. At the Lefkosa roundabout in Girne take the turn for the Colony hotel on the right before the garage the Sele restaraunt is signposted turn down there then left and Efendi is there go past and turn right big blue doors and No 14. the streets are very narrow first time might be wise geting a taxi or go looking for them in the daytime. Hope these directions are clear ( not as mud ) 'cos Ken is in UK so i am posting Liz

Directions: Easiest way to find us is if you drive down to the Colony hotel go round the mini roundabout and take the exit to the East of the island. Take the 3rd right and drive into the old Turkish Quarter follow that road straight up until you come to a small church on the right. If you are looking for Efendis turn right and if you are looking for no: 14 continue past the church and there will be a small road on your left next door to the mosque. No: 14 is just up that street on the right hand side. Thank you for your Directions TopTen.

I still think that a map is better than text (like: "One pictures tells you more than a thousand words"). Lixiechick: look at the map and tell me if the red spot is on the right location. If not tell me where to place the spot and I'll make and finish a complete (free) map including a logo, your details etc etc. And I wish you good luck with the re-opened Nr. 14 Restaurant! http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/100406_eMaps_nr_14_rest_2.jpg

Thank you Dutch Crusader that is very kind of you. The red point needs to be on the next right hand turn just about 5 cms down on the other side of the road as you drive down 14 is on the right hand side. Our Telephone numbers and opening hours are listed on post 1. Thank you again

Yes of course you can book a table for the 10th July. I would need your full name and telephone number to do this. If you would like to contact the restaurant directly and we can take these details from you 0542 859 2072. Please say that it is a birthday and if you would like a homemade cake let them know what kind you would like as we make them at the restaurant.

Lixiechick, hope you and Cliff manage to give them a better table than you gave us! Last summer we were stuck behind a bush by the brick wall on an unfinished concrete slab with no view whatsoever. I admit if you were seated around the pool the view was lovely. Crammed in with work in progress it seems. Kamal, the waiter and the waitress all warned one of our party not to have the Cheeky pork as it was very fatty and as Old Dogs reported at the time the sauces overpowered the food. Old Dogs also pointed out that the food was better when you were at Efendi over 8 years ago, with no borders open and when ingredients were scarce! Shame really as we had looked forward to the evening as you had been hyped up. You seem to be the IN PLACE with the usual fawning crowd who seem to think if it's expensive it must be good and no criticism allowed or, as I expect to be, dare to criticise and be shouted down. We are off to Midsummer house on Thursday and know we will not be disappointed.

RE msg 18, Panchocat: (...) hope you and Cliff manage to give them a better table than you gave us! (...) => Tip from Holland (less words than you need a year after your visit): I would have asked for a different table or would have left if my request could not be met.

Visited No 14 many times last year, been sat just about everywhere you can sit, service and location excellent , on one or two occasions had an issue with food, this was rectified immediately or replaced with a more expensive alternative. I guess that must make me one of the fawning crowd, thats a kind of insulting swipe at people you don't know. Panchocat, your remarks read sadly as a personal attack on lixiechick. Now that is Sad. Hope you have a nice time at Midsummer House I really hope you do, but to say you Know you Will is an uncanny look into the future.

It was mentioned at the time and sadly not rectified. There was no table to move to apart from the one next to us in the corner by the toilets! No insults intended to lixiechick "you" in the sense it was written is 14 itself. If no one is allowed to criticise what is the point of a forum. The criticism is constructive and should be taken as such by restaurants. DC tip from England Flying Dutchman 3:30 at Doncaster! gottheyips being the 7th daughter of a 7th daughter gives me the gift of foresight! Cheers all.

We made several trips to No 14 last summer and enjoyed every meal. Cliff warned us that the cheeky pork may be fatty but being adventurous we went ahead and ordered and it was delicious! We have visited Efendis and found the food okay, but No 14 does definitely have 'the edge' as far as we are concerned. Look forward to our next visit on our return. Admittedly they are more expensive than some restaurants but then you do not go every week. Will also give Midsummer House a try to see what it's like.

went their twice last year........ house wine just about chilled 1st order. 2nd had to come with ice added . exactly the same on our next visi, then. asked for side order of fried onions to go with the very small fillet steak to be told a very abrupt no!!!. then got charged for our sweets which never arrived! poor. very poor. ps went to efendis and the steak was advertised as "expensive but great" . sorry yes expensive but again poor. why would you advertise this statement ?
