Parking at either Metehan or Ladra Palace Nicosia Border North Cyprus

Hi,



Can anyone advise if there is parking at either of the above crossings?



I am staying in the South and hiring a car there and looking at options of going to the North- one of which is being picked up on the North side of either of these crossing.

Not sure about parking in the South but there are car parks in the North at both crossing points, I think the shorter walk would be the Ledra Palace crossing.

Just before you get to the Ledra Palace crossing on the south side there is a Car Park on the left hand side about 50 - 100 metres after the roundabout of the "boy with a grenade in his hand".

If I read your mail correctly, you are staying in the south and driving up to the crossing point. If you plan on staying in the North for a while, would it not be better to take out insurance, and drive over?

If it's a day visit then I would park in one of the many carparks around the walled city of Nicosia and walk into the old city and up Ledra Street towards Debenhams. Carry on to the crossing point. Once through, make your way to Kyrenia Gate and onto the main road. Carry on to the main road (don't cross over) where you can catch a Dolmus/bus to various places. The Girne buses arrive and stop about 30 metres to the right of the Kyrenia Gate junction (no signs), but close to the opening into the small park, with a path that takes you back to Kyrenia Gate.

The crossing I have mentioned is not Ledra Palace but Lokmaci. It's in the walled Nicosia and very easy to find. If you get lost just ask for directions to Debenhams.

This map may help. It shows all the carparks and then you're looking for Lidras (5E)

Walk to the end (North) of Lidras and you'll find the Lokmaci crossing which is part of Lidras (Ledra) Street. Go through passport control and you're in the North.

I am trying to arrange a lift from somewhere at the North Border and the only places the driver can collect us from are ledra Palace or metehan so not sure where Lokmaci is in relation to either of those?

Ledra Place is at 1B on the map, in which case drive clockwise around the walls and park as close as possible.

PS Have you considered getting a bus to Nicosia. Bus numbers and destination links are also on the map.
