Are you talking about low voltage halogen (energy saving) bulbs, Vaughan? Occasionally, in the South, they gave the above to account holders - usually two!

These lamps are not low Voltage but they are low Wattage. They are not halogen they are flourescent. They are known as compact flourescent lamps. They are energy saving using, about 9W and producing the same light output as a 75W incandescent lamp. They did give these away once before but they were cheap chinese lamps. The new ones are Philips, don't know where they are made though. Anyway, I thought you Kiwis still used whale-oil hurricane lamps and paraffin fridges!

Sorry, me brain's at 'half-mast' again today - yeah, low wattage! Er, what sort of fitting are they - screw or 'bayonet'? No, only Poms use paraffin - the rest of the world uses keroseneI BTW: Those lamps must be good - even the Queen uses Philips!
