just because the channels are "English" doesn't mean they will be any good....

Surely the obviousl choice has to by Sky TV from the UK - mmmmm has put plenty of posts on here about whats what and with the new Freeview card, you are looking at minimal set up costs and zero per month....

And at least the "English channels" will be BBC, ITV Ch 4 Etc.... not some 1970's clap trap that not even Garry Monger's missus wouldn't want to watch...

It gets very cols in your villa's over the winter in the TRNC ..

mess 4 - TT, yes i do have a "4m Jodrell", but i understand from mmmm, that a 1.8m dish is a cheaper and acceptable alternative for getting decent tellie in TRNC....

With a 1.8m dish you can get quite a few of the SKY channels, including ITV1, Ch4, and Ch5

Famagusta City.

P.S. Cheaper too if you bring out your own SKY box and card to match it.

Just try the my-private-network website.....no dish needed, just internet connection of a minimum of 1mb and £5 a months, additionally you can then subscribe to skyplayer and choose packages from there.

This post is advertising Nilesat. There is a bloke in the back of Cyprus Today who is providing same service for £110 (260TL).

Kind of he is opposit the hsbc and his system is £110 but the price is so cheap down to the qualit of the parts used. the man who fits mine only uses NEXT boxes and dishes. Granted you get the same channels but how long for. its like anything cheap and chineese. wont last long. And the idea of this system is that its very cheap to buy. not like a 1.8 Dish and all the channels are free. there is always something to watch when you come on holiday.

'30' channels in English ( sometimes ) would be MUCH more accurate description

This is a nilesat system - a good option for folks who don't live permanently or rent out ..

Can anyone tell me why they want English TV in Cyprus? Then perhaps I can understand the mentality of coming to live in a foreign country and expecting it to supply English TV in one form or another. But then I suppose it makes 2nd home owners feel at home and residents able to hide in a bubble!
