Can anyone tell me if there are any recreational light hovercraft activity in TRNC of either cruising or sport. These are the fun hovercraft with one to six seats powered by ex motorcycle or small car engines and about the size of a family car.

There have been plenty of viewings of this post but no new posts added. Does that mean that quite a few people are interested in light hovercraft but there is nothing going on at present or is this a case of no activity and only mild curiosity? With its terrific coastline (and the Karpaz) TRNC would be great for hovercraft cruising.

Why is that? They are legal in Turkey and I would have thought that that would have had an influence. Jet ski, boats etc are all allowed in TRNC. Ah well, just hoping !!

I suspect if you used it on the sea you would be OK. They might draw the line on driving it on the road.

They are great on water and land but not big waves and not roads etc (no brakes !!!). ideal for cruising around the coast because they can go where boats would bottom out and where 4x4 vehicles would get stuck. just good fun recreation around the coast.

I have heard that 'microlights' are banned in TRNC, due to the usual military paranoia - this, I was told, also used to apply to radio controlled model aircraft - so, knowing the 'sensitivity' that prevails and before going to the high cost of importing something like a hovercraft, or kit car, it would be advisable to try and source a high level member of the military - and that's nigh on impossible; as I discovered when my PTP was refused.
