I'm not sure, but I remember somebody telling me about a development that was abandoned, not sure why, but it was going to have a helicopter service to take people around the island, or to casinos, or whatever, and he did tell me the helicopters are still there (2 of them), abandoned as well. It's possible that's what you saw?

Hi all, If you look on Frank and Joans website he has photos and a brief history of the hotel (or should I say ex hotel where they are situated). The helicopters do look a bit spooky just sitting there! Shona

Not sure about the real truth behind this but have heard that the helicopters were bought by the notorious Asil Nadir to use for air tours of N/Cyprus and to be part of his hotel empire which he had created from the ill-gotten gains of Pollypeck. Apparently he acquired them from some dubious Russian contacts much to the disgust of the local "mafia" who in turn politely told him that as he had not asked them to supply the helicopters then it may better for his future enjoyment of the Island just to leave them parked up where they are. Which they have done all these years!!
