| We should have some good news for flights between Stansted & Ercan. Two new flights a week(Mondays and Fridays); some smacking prices to start with (until the cheapies have sold at least). The first flight should be on 01 September and although the allocation will finish 24 October they are due to continue into the winter. Keep your eye on this spot or go to http://www.fezbus.co.uk/Flight_Option_Form That is the option form on http://www.flightholiday.co.uk and put in your request now as they will come out very soon. We will take them in rotation over the next couple of days Tom IAH Ltd Main UK agent. At this point I am getting customers from Stansted to Ercan and back for around £170.00 per person (based on two people at £340.00 including our booking fee and taxes) Mondays and certain Fridays in September and OctoberTom IAH Ltd Main UK agent. | With regard to the possible strike in North Cyprus this coming Monday 08.00 to 18.00 I have just had word from CTA (the manager in the UK) - "we do not know how much it will affect us" From what else I was told I feel our suggestion is that anyone leaving North Cyprus in the morning on Monday gets to the airport about 1 to 1.5 hours early as CTA will probably try to despatch their aircraft before 08.00 so they might pull forward any flights due out in the early part of the day. Arriving from the Sunday night UK flight may be a problem too. Hopefully not though. Flights due to leave Ercan in the afternoon may well be late (if they can depart at all). If they do not leave they will not be able to collect passengers from the UK. This may not be clear till Monday. The flights from the UK to Ercan may be a little more chaotic. But at this moment I would also try to get to the airport early - far better to wait around because you are early and the plane is delayed rather than to lose the flight because it arrives early and has to bring forward it's departure to the TRNC. Sorry the information is sparse and not clear. As with any strikes the world over they may be averted at the last moment and all these safety plans might not apply at all which makes it that much harder for the airlines or tourist office to give any advice. If IAH get any further news we will publish it as usual. Tom IAH Ltd Main UK agent. | Notes on Mondays impending strike in the TRNC - these notes follow on in regard to information published in a Cypriot paper (thanks Ian for your input): Please note that in the case of the strike being put off or cancelled you need to call the airport as they might reinstate or again revise the flight times. No airline will honour your ticket if you did not turn up for the flight. In any case there will no doubt be unavoidable chaos with the changes. As this is a government employees issue in North Cyprus the border crossings may also be affected. The customs may well be on strike too. Tom IAH Ltd http://www.flightholiday.co.uk -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Re: Urgent Travel information by ianwefs on 2008-07-06, 12:12:05 pm I agree with Tom. For the information to be in today's paper, it must have been provided 48 hours before the start of the strike. In a situation like this, things are very fluid. Believe me, I used to work in an airline operations department. The last thing the airline wants is aircraft and passengers in the wrong place. They will look at options such as earlier or later departures, combining and re-routing flights. They could also get as far as Turkey, with the delay being there till the strike is over. |

| IAH have just been in contact with one of the senior staff in CTA UK office 09.10 and the comment on todays strike essentialy confirms the previously postings. "Get to the airport on time for your flight as scheduled but anticipate there might be some delay's or small problems." This was in brief note form as follows: "tom if you talking about strike in cyprus - just say that all our flights into uk today except the evening flight - they will come on time. the evening one will be 2 hours late. Yet again this evening passengers have to turn up at the normal time" In my version. There may be some changes but do not alter the plans relating to your original flights (do make an allowance for the fact you might have to wait in airports for longer than usual - have an extra book and a snack with you if not airside once you have checked in you may want to buy a little something). If you are waiting for someone to arrive best to give them your mobile number and go to a local restaraunt/cafe or pub then they can call you after they have cleared customs they might arrive in short stay parking about the same time as you. Tom IAH Ltd PS To my knowledge the scheduled airlines that supply TRNC are not on strike. 0871 855 2925 Phone 0870 855 2929 Fax info@flightholiday.co.uk http://www.flightholiday.co.uk |

| News just picked up from GMTV The UK passport office drop in centres have a strike today and till the weekend. This implies that you will not be able to get a passport issued till Monday. There is no information at this time on the http://www.ips.gov.uk web sites Passport service home page. Tom |

| Irishvixen, I wish - but no. When the main tour operators did not support CTA as strongly as they might they did not repeat the Belfast or Glasgow schedules. Maybe we can hope for 2009 summer but who knows. Tom |

| We have had advice overnight through flybe that there might be some flight disruptions. It seems that Lufthansa Cabin Crew and Ground Staff have voted to strike from Monday 28-07-08 with action planned for up to two weeks. For all travellers we hope it does not materialise but at least you are aware. Tom 0871 855 2925 Phone 0870 855 2929 Fax info@flightholiday.co.uk http://www.flightholiday.co.uk |

| Hi Coachie & Pilgrim 1] We haven't a clue nor have the two regular airlines to TRNC but I'm sure we will know soon for the winter schedules and that 430 does sound very steep for early booking. 2] We do not try to get business on the BB but give help and advice - We are happy to admit to who we are when the thoughts are "with some experience from the company" but if you want help and bookings the best thing is to contact us by phone, skype or email. | Not good news on general flights -all down to the "economic downturn". This is part of an article just in from a specialist travel trade information supplier TravelMole: "OAG has revised its latest analysis of worldwide airline schedules in light of the economic crisis. It said continuing problems in the US, Europe and Asia are impacting airline operations with worse than expected declines in airline capacity this winter. Flights and capacity within Europe are showing worsening cutbacks in the fourth quarter of 2008. Figures for intra-Europe flights are now 5% lower than for quarter four in 2007. Back in August, OAG had originally forecast a fall of 2.7%. Seat capacity is now 5.6% lower, compared with the previous analysis drop of 2.8% a couple of months ago. US domestic flights are set to fall by almost 11% and capacity by 9% in the fourth quarter of 2008 compared to a year ago." Tom IAH Ltd http://www.flightholiday.co.uk |

| CTA Flights to and from North Cyprus and Turkey etc. There are changes afoot for clients of KTHY. The price of all CTA tickets will effectively change upward. (Over the years CTA has reduced the ticket agent’s commission, and now they will be cutting it, without seemingly giving the clients any benefit.) From the 31st of October 2008 there will be a ticketing charge from CTA on each ticket, whoever you buy from, and in most agents' cases a booking fee, as no agent can afford to sell you a flight and give service for nothing. If you want to get the last of the “better deals”, we would advise you to book and pay for your flights up until March 2009 now! - they must also be ticketed by the 31st October 2008. Don’t forget that a lot of CTA fares are now non-refundable and are not changeable, and the rest have sharper penalties than in the past too, so book with forethought. What Cyprus Turkish Airlines is doing is reflected in the rest of the airline industry so pl-- (see 2) |

| From the main UK Travel Trade source: "The airline industry has posted its biggest drop in passenger numbers in five years. Global traffic fell 2.9% last month which is the most significant deterioration since the Sars outbreak in 2003. Iata chief executive Giovanni Bisignani is reported to have said that the alarmingly fast-paced and widespread fall in demand could result in the industry suffering a deeper loss than the £3.3bn expected this year." Tom's comment: This may reduce the number of "alternative" routes and airports available in 2009 Tom IAH Ltd http://www.flightholiday.co.uk |

| Just to advise anyone trying to contact Tom at IAH Ltd (flightholiday) - On top of a few other issues, he has been plagued by computer problems which have caused difficulty in responding to emails - these now appear to be resolved, and he is aiming to answer all outstanding emails tonight before he sets off tommorrow for the World Travel Show in London ( a 'Jolly' we used to call them, somewhat ironically...). It will be Business as Usual while he is away; Alan who some of you may remember is looking after the office, and will also provide contact with Tom & Co. He sends his sincere apologies for any inconvenience, and his sparse contribution to the forum of late. He has posted a fuller explanation here: http://trncvillaowners.phpbb3now.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3544#p31739 Regards, Keith |

| Msg 27 Cont: Re: Pegasus flights- Urgent help needed by cyprusgaz on 2008-12-31, 07:02:39 pm I have seen posts in the past saying how easy it is to book direct with the airlines on the Internet. Never would I consider it!! I book with Tom at IAH every time. Booking direct is ok until something unexpected occurs, like a short notice reason to change the flight or the airline cancelling the flight which has just happened to my elderly Dad. Flying back to UK flight out of Ercan with Turkish airline booked September for 23rd December cancelled. No reason given just cancelled. A complete nightmare to deal with for connecting flights etc. Thank goodness for Alan (the new boy) at IAH. He even rang me at 9.30 on a Sunday night to keep me updated with how things were working out. You might pay a bit more for service but you can’t pay enough for peace of mind. Lets face it travelling can be stressful enough. Thanks Tom and Alan, I really appreciate what you did for us. |

| Welcome news from CTA. They have a short term special offer that has just come out on no refundable and non changeable fares - in the UK you can only sell these as an ATOL holder and any ATOL holder offering these would need to add an ATOL surcharge as well as booking fees as the profit will be too low to cover your seats. The other problem is that they have to be paid to CTA same day so you will find that agents will want to process these bookings first thing in the day for you or they can't hold the deals. | Author: Linda Fox | 16 January 2009 Hitwise has unveiled web data showing flight searches are still significantly down compared to the same period last year. Figures published a week ago and criticised in some quarters because of the difference in the way the holidays fell for the two years, showed a 42% dip for the week ending January 3. However, the latest figures show a similar downward trend with flight searches for the week ending January 10 down 40%. The above is an extract from a travel trade journal With this type of news the number of flights will go down until most planes can fly at capacity |

| SNOW I have just checked with Pegasus handling agent at Stansted the Pegasus flight inbound is on time make sure you are at the airport with excess time in hand as "it is heaving with people whose flights are cancelled or delayed". Do make sufficent/excess allowance for travelling to airports as your travel insurance will not cover you if you do not. Peter will keep an eye on the boards and might be able to advise on KTHY & Turkish too. Thank Pegasus and IAH's contacts. Tom http://www.flightholiday.co.uk PS Heathrow flights are suffering since a Cyprus Airways flight has come off the Taxi area. 11.30 Update on Stansted it seems the Turkish Airlines flkight today is still flying. |

| Hi Rowlo, We should take it off board - please email me info@flightholiday.co.uk . We do need to know titles Names (dob if under 12) phone number etc as otherwise we cant hold an option (no option and any price is a TOTAL fiction it can change even as we take an option!). 20th would be Turkish not CTA is it ok? On another important point --- personal on line security: Do not give any of your details on any BB as it is very poor security - including dates of travel where you live etc this is the one time I think annonimity is actualy good. I rcently saw a posting where the poster told the whole world when they were not going to be at home in the UK and even gave the house name and address. No insurer would cover you ,neither would you like the results of a break in. If asked we advise travellers to only give flight details and their mobile / telephone numbers on baggage (maybe their destination town but not post codes or where they are travelling from). |
