Eroglu Talat has been "played" by the EU for six years - he keeps accepting being fobbed-off, so time for a change

Talat, he's kept the dialogue going with prosettlement soundings, whereas the GC's look intransigent to the outside world as they won't compromise and when they do (rotating presidency) the national council throws the toys out of the pram. ECHR IPC decision and upcoming Direct Trade Agreement revisited look like carrots for Talat's positive stance during the talks.

I believe Eroglu can win this and is my choice. Talat looks to be too soft in the talks. The talks statement said absolutely nothing. No details and it looks as if he is hiding any agreed positions. Although the Turkish Government favours him, this will count for little to the Turkish Cypriots. It may even count against him. It doesn't really matter what we think does it ? Prof. Eroglu claims we're all citizens here but we are still disenfranchised. Just like expat TC's. It won't change under Talat but it may under Eroglu. Having heard him speak, I believe he's at least if not more sincere than Talat....and both are more reliable than UK politicians.

Msg 22 What's the point in having an opinion on this ? it will only matter or make any sense if you are allowed to vote, therefore any opinion is pointless as we can't vote........................................

It doesnt matter who wins, the puppet master sits in Ankara and he is the one who counts. The TRNC politicians will do as they are told and what is in Turkeys national interest.

Paul, By going on what my TC friends say I think Eroglu. Because they say to me they have no interest in a solution anymore after the anan agreement was rejected by the GC.

mmmmmmm For the last five years he's been jerked about and hasn't got the direct trade promissed, nor is anywhere near reaching an agreement with Christofias. The main players in the EU, Germany and France do not want Turkey in the union, and Cyprus is a convenient stalling point without directly giving the two fingers to Turkey Talat has been the patsy in the middle - no chance of getting anywhere, but he's happy to strut about looking important and having lots of meetings. At least he doing less bu**ering-up of the economy from his presidential position than when he was PM (where he was a complete failure IMO) Mark

why is it never possible to keep a threat running on the original subject? are these people unable to read and understand? the question is so easy, even my 3 year old nice would understand.. I try to explain: Talat or Eroğlu? Who will win, what do you think? It makes not mater beeing able to vote or not. This is not the subject. Please dont comment on this what I have written here. If you want to answer then open a new thread or whatever..

Talat msg 16: Talat and his follower Soyer made nearly everything astronomical; electricity, taxes, etc. But thisi is because Turkey sent less money. If you blame Talat for the taxes skyrocket, why don't you blame Eroglu, too? He didn't lower the taxes after all, and he will probably made them higher and higher, without any light of a solution to Cyprus problem. Neither Talat nor CTP have been performing well for the last five-six years. And I blame CTP for that. Yet, best choice seems to be Talat.

Dear MarkV re msg 41 1/ Direct Trade - it HAS increased.. the 'rump' RoC can point out the 74 UN Sec council resolutions still in place.. 2/ Germany, etc... b'all to do with EU and Talat Talat and Christofias were in charge when the world-wide downturn came about - hardy their fault and Talat has virtually b'all influence - 'TRNC' totally beholden to Turkey !
