The toll of the bad winter has caused our pool to develop a crack. Anyone know of good swimming pool repairers. I have heard a company called SIKA who specialise in this sort of thing, anyone know of a reliable company?

What on earth has the weather got to do with your pool developing a crack? If someone told you this I suggest you find someone else for advice.

Groucho, Quite right. Almost certainly it will be due to bad construction.

Pools that leak can accumulate the leaked water underneath and cause the soil there to subside. Once heavy rain raises the water table the subsidence can deteriorate to the point where the pool is partly unsupported. If the pool has been poorly constructed in terms of size/quantity of steel rebar and quality of concrete it may not be able to support its own weight and the weight of the pool water. At this point it can fracture and we at Octopus have seen this happen more than once. Repairs range from filling the cracks and crossing your fingers to building another pool inside the original pool. I would need to see the pool before advising further.
