Mobiles which you can use with Skype

heaven, if by mobiles you mean cell phone then I know the iphone works brilliantly with Skype however if you can even get one in NC I don't know.

There is some good news though, an itouch will also work as a mobile with skype, all you need to to is by a headset/microphone combination or a microphone adaptor to add to your headphone cable.

The only drawback to either of these systems or any cellphone using skype unless it is has changed is that you need an internet connection which will require 3G if you can't get wireless and that is expensive, comparable with an international call so kind of defeats the purpose of skype.

Surely, the amount of data a SKYPE call uses doesn't [normally] make it more expensive if you have the right 3G plan and you aren't roaming.. Adding video eats more bandwdith

Admittedly I haven't researched the 3G costs available in NC but I have utilised it on my mobile for other data roaming purposess and I found it very prohibitive when it came to cost.



The advantage of skype is fantastic in most situations and if heaven has a wireless network at home and is only planning to use the phone there or somewhere else that has a free wireless system its a definate win but if they are going to be using the 3G system especially on a PAYG sim card it will be costly.



I vaguely remember you mentioning a trial of a skype phone over here, was that a mobile or a wireless PC connection phone?

We will have an iphone for sale on 6th May.



T'other arf has used it both sides of the pond and will be happy to tell you what it can and cant do cos he loves that phone more than me.
