They should never have got into the Eurozone... they lied through their teeth and cooked the books to achieve entry and, having been found out, they ought to be automatically ejected and additionally have their EU veto rights withdrawn, otherwise it's like letting the burglar keep the swag....

They should apply the FIFA regulations as applied to Portsmouth, deduct ten points and relegate them to the Championship where they always belonged - the bankrupt scallywags that they are!

I think you will find that what Germany wants is for Greece to be turfed out of the Eurozone, not out of the EU. However, if that happened I suppose Greece might leave the EU anyway in protest. Italy is another one but they want to leave the Eurozone themselves, not chucked out. I hope Turkey and UK do NOT ever join the Eurozone. Geoff Famagusta City

Mark, When you say first line, you don't mean we are going to ba attacked to you. What does Veta know that we don't. Luba has said nothing to me !! On a more serious note, If Greece are pushing for TR entry to the EU, I am pretty sure it will not be to the advantage of Cyprus or at least not NC. One question I have from almost all posters when commenting on political situations is, where does the information come from. In my experience it seems to be from the press which when most articles are read carefully they have ways of phrasing possibles, rumours, inuendos and potentials as factual without being held accountable. I would really appreciate being advised where I might be able to gather information of an unbiased but factually accurate nature. Any suggestions. Paul

BTW, ofcourse this is all bull*hit, germany does not want greece out of EU or euro-union. germany will give 27% of the credit for greece (I mean, greece is the biggest partner in buying weapons from germany) germany gives a credit line of 8,4 billion euros, france follows with 6,2 billion euros, at the end of the list there is cyprus and malta, but no UK well done! http://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/griechenland532.html

paul message 16 and mark message 13, paul when you read mark's comment about the "first line", surely, and assuming this time the greeks were telling the truth (they are still telling big "porkies" about their deficit though) it is surely iran not russia (ie veta luba et al) that "threatens" ...russia is an established supporter of greece and south cyprus, with iran as the regional bad boy surely? well um... that is not really up to date actually iran is now turkey's new best friend while russia maintains ties to both iran, and turkey (eg southstream 2 gas pipeline via karpaz?) perhaps this why it seems so confusing with all these new relationships in the region, you'll get biased readings coz most of us have an axe to grind, surprise surprise! try wikipedia or a solid daily paper's online archive for background facts but don't imagine there's a one-size-fits all set of "facts" forget the claptrap about cyprus deals, those wafflers are as biased as me!

andre, the comment about first line was an attempt at an injection of humour based on both of our wifes being russian but I appreciate the point about iran and not russia being looked at as the danger point. I personally don't think Iran is trying to cause problems for anyone but that is just me. I agree with the wikipedia viewpoint more likely to be unbiased however it does tend to point some of it's information sources to other less reliable literature. I suppose I will just have to trawl through what is available and try to decypher which parts might have some truth to them. Only time will tell. Arte et marte, Paul

Suspend RoC and Greece from the EU and most of TRNC's problems would be solved!
