Is there such a thing as a dwarf bougainvillea? My cousin bought me a plant last May which we planted and is looking really healthy but it has only grown approx 6inches in nearly a year. Is there something I can feed this one to help it along or is it always going to be vertically challenged? Thanks in advance. Chris

There are 2 types one of which is a bush bouiganvillea which it sounds like you have. They are quite slow growing.

Maybe you have a bonsai version We have a couple which are VERY slow growing - it seems to depend on colour as well as type, with the reddish one growing a mile a minute!!!

Feed with sheep sh*t and water to establish the root system ,when this is done 2/3 years,it will take off like a rocket and you will spend all your time cutting it back which again only makes it stronger

Chris The only real dwarf variety of Boogy is Helen Johnson. But like us, if they are not in the right place they just will not get on. Full sun, deep wet feet and it will at least grow. Up to around 75cm to a meter tall with a good spread. Chegwin

I had to Google it too cos I forgot the name! At least I am honest! (Well, most of the time). I have grown many varieties in different parts of the world and usually had success with them all. Cuttings are a doddle as well. Swing by the Ozankoy flower show, May 15th I think, and you can get loads of planty/growy info' there. Maybe catch you down our end one day? Chegwin
