| Jusy having a debate with a friend regards deeds transfer payments at the Tapu... Is the tax calculated in line with the deeds office valuation figure which is normally TL ? Or Is the tax calculated on the actual purchase/contract price which is normally GBP ? Is the payment made in TL or GBP ? |

| The tax is calculated on the higher of the valuation or contract price. It is payable in TL. The contract price is converted to TL. In Famagusta they use that days official rate, however in Kyrenia they use the average rate for the year of the contract, so you may find a rate of around 2.7 being used. The rate of the tax is currently 6% or 3% for first purchase. It was hoped that it would be reduced to 1.5% or 0.75% after the election, but nothing has happened yet! |
