Some friends of mine bought one of those 'mangels' from the supermarket and very cleverly converted it to waist height with an old ironing board! I thought it was ingenious! they took the board bit off the ironing board and attached the stand to the bottom of the mangel - might be worth a go if you can't find one to buy!
