I recently brought a Canon Printer from the shop next to Mr Pound, when the error message was showing the ink had run out I brought 2 new catridges from UK that were recommended from Staples, they were compatible with my machine, since replacing them the machine does not work, I took it back to the shop I brought it from only 2 months ago as its under gaurantee and they now say because I have not used original canon catridges the warranty does not exist so want me to pay for repairs which is more than the machine cost in the first place, has anyone else had this problem with fitting compatible ink catridges and can anyone recommend another shop to buy a new printer as I will not be going back to this shop.

If you can go south go to Republic in the Mall of Cyprus. Excellent selection and some specials occasionally. I bought an Epson from them and have had no problems. I get replacement cartidges via ebay and they are not genuine either. Good luck.

That's two of us hat won't be going back to the shop next to Mr pound. Charged me 60tl to sort out my laptop, kept crashing. Got home, everything in Turkish but managed to get past that. Laptop was no better. Went to Baseline, at the end of our street, behind Ezic on the Girne - Lapta road. 24 hours later and 50tl poorer my laptop is running smoothly.

Does Baseline sell printers do you know or just fix them. The printer was only 140 tl so not worth spending another 100tl having it fixed better to buy a new one, not to mention the cost of the new ink cartidges I have just installed.....

parkview,

I sympathise - I've been in the same position myself - and incidentally, I DO blame 'equivalent' or 're-filled' cartridges.

I re-filled my own cartridges for many years, with an old printer (forgot the name, sorry!) but changed to Epsom for 'photo-quality', and ran into trouble - after each re-fill, it took longer and longer to achieve good print quality, 3 or 4 head cleans, etc.

I switched to 're-manufactured' cartridges, and it got even worse - after the second set I threw the printer away...

I'm not saying that filling your own cartridges is always, and inevitably, a 'Bad Thing' (for those of you who read '1066 & all that' ) but it does seem to suit some printers more than others, and trial & error can be an expensive way of learning...

Incidentally, in the past I have seen offers where you can buy a printer, complete with a full set of ink cartidges/print heads CHEAPER than you could buy the cartridges on their own - talk about a LOSS LEADER!

Try updating the drivers first, it maybe they are out of date, had a similar problem myself a while ago, go on Cannon's website and search for the drivers for you printer and update them it may help!

If its not the drivers, why dont you just buy the cannon ink, i know they are more expensive, but you can get them in the UK on offer sometimes and get them posted over, cheaper than buying a new printer everytime you need ink!

Laconic are also in Girne near to the large Hurdeniz. Helpful and good service. Recently bought an Epson printer/scanner from them.
