Hi

You need a VPN ( virtual private network) that will fool a UK channels provider that you are in the UK..Sadly most companies now block VPNs or have stopped running BBC through threats of legal action :(

You can still get ITV/ C4, Five, etc. but I think they will soon disappear :(

I offer a VPN service, but because of these issues I am going to have to offer an alternative - which we are trialling, now

You are welcome to test mine

There is an internet srevice - http://www.filmon.co.uk

this is quite good - there is a subscription (around £8 per month - cheaper if you but a whole year). You can also test for free. If you have good internet connection it works very well. It is certainly worth a try - I even use it on the local 3G dongle when on holiday.

Sign up for the Box for free download your programmes and watch at your convenience

http://thebox.bz

No freezing the bandwidths generally not good enough in TRNC to watch live

Dear HNComputers.. re msg 8

did YOU try to view BBC via tvcatchup.com or zattoo.com ?

HINT : no UK tv via the first and no BBC via the second...this VPN is blocked by tvcatchup and Zattoo have been forced to take the Beeb off..:(

Hi there, we use the UK site UKNOVA - just google it in. You have to register but it's a free site. We just download and watch allsorts of programmes from British TV, for example - Police Dramas - Corrie Street - Comedy programmes and shows - Costume Dramas - Documentaries - general entertainment programmes and Sport. Sport is usually a few hours old though. Best thing we ever did for watching TV since we have out here.

UKNOVA is good, however you have to download in order to watch and that could take a while....torrentday.com is very fast for downloading and it's free

However I still recommend MPN...as you live stream

Dear HNComputers

YES you can access iplayer, but have you tried to LIVE stream BBC via zatoo / or anything via tvcatchup?

VPNS work ok if you go to the channels web sites, but in many instances you can't live stream :(

As I said ..the services that did allow this.. are being closed down..bit by bit to VPNs such as VPN

try MPN...it won't fail you! Plus you pay for paypal so if you're not happy just cancle and get ur money back, also you can freeze accounts and unfreeze whenever, so for people who do go back to England regularly its very good

HOW.. can something that doesn't allow you to watch live BBC / ITV, etc be 'aiding you' ? ;)

For VPNs to keep clients they will have to find a way to 'allow' such services to work.. as long as they don't ..there are cheaper ways to obtain UK TV content and view it when you want...

I WANT VPNs to allow viewing of live content..

Message 12: Just tried TorrentDay.com and this message came up

"We are not accepting any new torrent uploaders right now. Please do not ask us how to upload torrents at TorrentDay!"

Got any other suggestions?

Message 11. Downloaded UKNOVA but it takes forever to download anything. Maybe I ought to try to download overnight or something.

gotavilla....Hmmm strange, because you were trying to register not trying to upload (that's something you would have to do once you've downloaded material off of torrentday)

However, just click on sign up and fill in your details....I think at the moment its freeleech which means you can download as much material as you want and not have to upload

Message 18.Yes it does take a while to download. The more programmes you are downloading at the same takes even longer I agree but, we download when we are out or doing something else and we regularly download overnight. We have never had a problem with the downloads since we started with UKNOVA over 12 months ago. The site satifies our needs and most importantly of all - IT'S FREE.

I use http://www.thebox.biz

I prefer it to UKNova because there is no delay in being able to download new programmes. This is an issue with UKNova until you get your download/upload ratio equal.

I upload, downloaded programmes 24/7 & download at night. I have been doing this for a year & it gives me all the UK. TV I want. I'm able to watch any programme I download in less than 24 hours. I can be totally selective about the programmes I watch & can avoid the drivel.

It's free unless you make donations to improve your ratio. This should only be necessary when you first join, if you are greedy for more programmes & haven't uploaded enough. Donations start at €5.
