any news, at least this could be useful to most of us ! because i am surprised to notice that so many subjects are only discussion between residents or residents to be - it is not a complain but it would be nice to think of tourists coming to north cyprus and wanted to visit the island -

AS stated on several previous threads, it is unlikely that the majority of rental operators will entertain their vehicles going south in the foreseeable future. They have to protect their interests and they do not have any trust that their vehicles will be safe. This from me, a permanent resident with info from a close friend who runs a car rental business.

Although it has been agreed that hire cars from the North are nows alowed to be taken across the boarder, this still remains a problem because of insurance. Only 3rd party insurance is available to us in the South, so should anything happen whilst driving over in the South you would be fully responsible for costs of towing vehicle back and all repairs. As a Hire Company we also have to give the police the registration numbers of any hire vehicles that we would alow to go over the boarder and this takes three weeks to sort out at this end. It is something that we are looking at but may take a short while yet before being given the full go ahead. Chrys - The Business Centre Alsancak (Car Hire & Authorised Insurance Agent )
