We will be moving to North Cyprus (Alsancak) soon and we are looking for the best solution to access the internet, we don't have a landline. Since we will have two laptops connected simultaneously we are looking into a wireless solution and as far as we can see there are only two providers: eXtendBroadband or sunnynet. Unfortunately the web sites are in turkish only or very limited in information so we are looking for advice which one to pick. And none of the websites seems to talk about volume (how many GB free per month, or is it a flat rate?), only speed. Reliability is very important since we need constant access throughout normal business hours. So awaiting your comments which would drop the scales towards one or the other, or even alternative solutions which we have not yet considered. We've searched the forum but we're not sure if the comments still apply in 2010. kind regards Briand

Depending on where you live in Alsancak, there are several alternatives. SunnyCyprus, eXtend and NethouseNetworks I'd find out from your new neighbours to be who has the best coverage and therefore speeds... don't listen to the Service Provider unless they are telling you they don't cover your area...

By 'Wireless Solution', do you mean the ability to use 2 laptops (which you said you had) on the Internet at the same time? If you, then that function is provided by using your own wireless router, NOT by the ISP (internet service provider) So, you could use either ADSL (for fastest speed available in TRNC) - assuming that you are within the specified distance of an ADSL-enabled Exchange, OR a 'Wireless ' system (i.e. with a dish on your roof) - or even dial-up - though to be honest the latter isn't really considered an option these days. The Wireless (dish) systems cost more per month for any given connection speed, but unless you are lucky enough to buy or rent a 'resale' with a landline, you may have to join the queue of people who have been waiting for years for a line to become available... As for which ISP is the best, each one seems to have supporters and denigrators, also the relative performance varies. Mine (Extend) is CRAP, but others are sometimes CRAPPER
