Hi TJinthesun,

I don't have this in the TRNC but I do have it in my bungalow in England, had it in for 10 years now and no problems. Doesn't cost much to run and would possibly be interested in it in the TRNC. I don't know if it would work in most buildings because of the steel reinforcing rods in the concrete structure. My understanding is that the electro rods must not come in contact with any kind of metal, but I could be wrong and you may know better.

You are right, but most of my damp is in the walls.....Not sure how close to the reinforcing rods could be.

Hi Trevor,

The method used is to drill small holes all the way round the outside of the property. titanium wire is used to form a circuit. Every 18" a titainium probe is pushed into the holes, if the damp is on the internal walls this can be treated in the same way. At one end of the wire you attach a metal rod which acts as an earth and is pushed deep into the ground. The other end is attached to the special electric plug and is placed into a 13amp socket, it must be left on 24/7 to work properly. As you have to drill the holes to a depth of 5-6" I can't see how you could avoid the steel rods inside the concrete. If I were you I would contact Lectos to find out.

I will obtain as much data as possible to assess if this system will have a positive effect on the type of build here in Cyprus.

I hope to have answers within the next few days.

Look forward to it. Was thinking of bringing over one set to see how it went in one room. Intention would be not to put electrodes in the pillars but either side of them.

Dreamer,

Any news?

I spoke with them and got referred elsewhere to buy a standard kit to try out.

Still thinking of doing this in one room at the end of the summer.

Cheers,

TJ
