I am toying with the idea of selling my house and renting instead (less hassle ) It is a semi detached two bed house in Bufavento Village Catalkoy. Fabulous views of sea and mountains which cannot be blocked by building!. Guaranteed title deeds and an honest builder. I have lived on the site for 6 years in two different houses. There is a lovely communial pool and well kept gardens. The site fees are £285 a year. My house has upstairs bathroom and downstairs cloak room. Recently damp proofed with a guarantee. Small easy to care for garden. I would consider selling it furnished. £60.000 plus furniture if required.

I disagree Geoff with the recent ECHR ruling i think your better of buying on exchange lane opposed to pre-74 because atleast you should be granted your PTP. Just my opinion.

Noted Cooper - however there should be no problem obtaining a PTP on a pre-74 deed. We have heard on this forum of the odd problem, but as far as I can ascertain the problems were to do with other factors, rather than what type of deed the property is on. European buyers are at the moment VERY nervous about buying here - which is why I reckon you've a better chance of selling if the deed is pre-74. I gues you are right in that IF the EU economies pick up and then as a result the deman d for houses here picks up - THEN I agree your comments. Cheers, Geoff Famagusta City. P.S. My problem is selling a property we still own in the ROC. Wish I had never bought over there - but it was before the border was opened up by the TRNC.

The land was owned by the TRNC government and after the forest fire of some years ago it was allowed to be developed. Everyone who has applied for their PTP has been given it and 90percent of the owners now have individual Kocans, I dont because i moved house and as you know the process starts all over again. If i can sell it before i pay out any more money i will rent in the same area as its wonderful living here.

Sorry but I have to disagree, pre 74 is not being issued to foreign buyers. Seek your confirmation from Marian at the HBPG, the odd honest advocate or the British High Commission. Better still go along to the Pia Bella Tuesday at 12.30 and meet some of those that have been refused for absolutely no reason.
