Has anyone sold their car recently and knows the latest procedure, we need to do it next week and want to be sure we have all the relevant docs etc before we go to Lefkosia.

The seller has to obtain a form from the car tax office in Nicosia(dont know if you could get it in Kyrenia),fill it in with a stamp and get the local muhtar to stamp and sign it.Other then that, you need the log book, proof of identity and 250 tl.

Not bad for 2 minute job which is done with a PEN,is it?

Ok thanks, I'll try the tax office in Kyrenia first for the form unless anyone knows definately if you can get it there or have to go to Lefkosia.

Does the seller & the buyer have to go to the Muctar?

When I did it as the buyer I had to get the form signed by the Muhtar for the area of the seller. eg I live in Alsancak and the previous owner did not so the form had to be signed by the Muhtar of the seller as the registration document showed the address of the seller. Appreciate that things change quickly here so when you visit the tax office, as belt and braces, best to take all documents with you such as registration document, insurance, emissions test, MOT etc but they still might ask to see your diploma for Jam making.!! Best of luck

You can get the form in Girne tax office but it is easier to go to a noter who will complete the form and witness it for you (passports to be provided) for a fee @20tl then go to Lefcosia with all the documents for the car have fun!
