Anyone any idea of what the problem is........... Turn taps on and no pressure just a small flow of water. Then go to the base tank and shake the float and the pump starts up. Pressure ok until i turn tap off then when turned on again NO PRESSURE. Back downstairs and press the re-set button on the pressure control unit. All ok. Turn tap off . Turn back on after a minute, then again no pressure!. Go onto the roof tank and press the ballcock down and have pressure until taps turned off again.! Anyone else got this . Many thanks in advance.

The pressure control unit and or floating witch has developed a fault. First thing to check, sometimes the weight on the floating switch needs to be adjusted to allow the float to upend and switch on.

I am utterly confused. 1. "..shake the float and the pump starts " 2. " press the re-set button on the pressure control unit. All ok." 3. "press the ballcock down and have pressure" It looks as though the differential pressure setting needs readjusting but to be honest, the three symptoms do not add up. If the prerssure switch is faulty, why should the float make it work when disturbed? ismet

May be the disturbance of the float resets the pressure switch. The only explanation. But again it does not add up. When you push down the ballcock it reduces the pressure in the pipes but the same thing should happen when you open any tap. So let us hear the end result please. ismet

Get someone to fit a manual over-ride switch for the pump. I fitted one, never had a problem since, Geoff Famagusta City

Ismet, if the feed to the press control is interupted by the float swich then shaking it will break and then remake the contact, giving the same effect as turning the power off and then back on . and have the same effect as the reset button. it makes sense for that to happen. you need a plumber 8384636.

susiesusue, I know this may sound silly but have you checked the filter in your taps? We have had problems on our complex with low water pressure and have found out through trial and error and spending rather a lot of money, that it is just that owners didn't realise you have to clean out these tap filters on a regular basis. The water in the TRNC contains lots of minerals that clog the filters up very quickly. The butlers wife

Groucho, I'm sure that you've got that the wrong way round - the test is this: - Dunk the suspect in water, if they float, then they're Witches & you burn them at the stake If they sink (and of course drown, as an unfortunate side effect) then they were innocent Or do you do things differently in your Village?

Ooh ah that we do master... Ismet, I've got a control unit and pump that sometimes gets their knickers in a twist too... After periods of inactivity it just won't fire up when drawing off water... until I switch it off at the mains and back on again and hey-presto, there she blows! No idea why this is, as turning off the power should not really make a difference - but it does...
