hire car is not an option.

best option might be to get a lift off Nigel, he will wait while you shop, and take you door to door.

Will emal you some other info.

Do not bother and buy in North.

You will get just as good value without the hassle.

Still say that by the time you paying the thieving taxi driver you would buy cheaper in Girne or Lefkosa.

Do not forget you are only allowed goods to the value of 135euro per person when returning.

better for you to buy in england then going to the south - each time you come over you bring your full luggage allowance - if not you find lots of staff in the north - look at the price and then decide - but it is true pay a taxi is not worthy

kav,

Sorry the government maintain the 135 euro limit. Be warned that is per person, per item and cannot be pooled.

The head of the European Commission’s Task Force for the Turkish Cypriot community Andrew Rasbash has said that the EU has no intention of withdrawing its proposal on the Direct Trade Regulation.

Speaking to the TAK news agency, the EU commission official said that the implementation of the Financial Assistance Regulation aimed at the Turkish Cypriot Community was going well and that there was still a year and half until the financial scheme was completed.

“We must now speed up things” he added.

Reminding that the European Commission had signed 50 million Euros worth of contracts in the North by the end of June within the framework of financial assistance regulation, Rasbash said that tenders had been launched for most of these contracts.

The head of the EU Commission’s Task Force also announced that new programs aimed at developing rural areas of the country will be launched by the end of this month.

On the issue of the Green Line Regulation, Mr. Rasbash said that the number of people crossing over the green line was at its highest level but also added that there was also a noticeable increase in the trading of goods across the divide despite a slow start.

“The South has imported 4 million Euros worth of goods from the North over the last 3 years. The export figures for the first 6 months of this year alone have exceeded 3 million Euros” he said.

Rasbash pointed out that the maximum value of goods each individual can carry across the border has also been raised from 135 to 260 Euros.

The Task Force head also reminded that the fresh fish had been added to the list of goods allowed to be exported from North Cyprus within the framework of the Green Line Regulation.

That is the first report recently that states increase. The last time it was raised couple of months ago the government were maintaining the level at 135, presumably to protect the retailers here.

Would be interested to know if it is true. Who is going to test it out as it has not been publicised in the press.
