| Foreign trade figures for the first three months of 2010 have shown an increase in both imports and exports compared to the figures for the same period last year. According to the figures released by the Department of Commerce, import spending rose from 249.4 million dollars to 333.3 million dollars, reflecting a 34% rise in figures, while spending on exports rose from 16.7 million dollars to 24.4 million dollars reflecting a 46% increase, compared to the same period last year. Turkey remained to be the biggest source of import with 70.6% while the remaining 29.4% imports came from third countries. |

| 45.1 % of the TRNC exports were made to Turkey and 54.9 % to third countries. Vehicles, fuel, furniture and furniture spare parts, medicine and medical equipment, information processing machinery and clothing top the list of items imported into the country. Diary products, citrus produce and poultry meat are the country’s main export items. |
