Sunny Lane - Not got a very good reputation lots of teachers/pupils leaving regularly. Alsancak

Girne American Uni - has a good reputation as far as i know. Karalanouglu has bus service.

The English School of Kyrenia - got a great reputation but a little costly. Bellapais also has bus service.

Good luck

Well that's all appears to be hearsay....

Sunny Lane, now 'British Academy of North Cyprus' in recognition of the excellent results achieved... All schools have a high turn-over of staff, it's not good but it's the way of the world. No school has had better results in the TRNC.

GAU - not got a good reputation for discipline, Not sure if it does follow the English Curriculum. In the upper school, multiple choice exams are re-sat until ALL pupils pass - which I think is a joke, you can only get the wrong answers so many times before you hit on the right one....

English School of Kyrenia, has only been going for a year, hardly time to establish a 'great reputation' but early signs are good. Poaching Sunny Lane's teaching staff has helped.

FYI

ESK has been going for longer than a year but it has only been in the NEW location for a year. Always had good reviews.

I have seen Sunny lane from the inside so i know what i am talking about.

Everyone i know who has children in GAU are happy with it.

All the teachers i know who went on to ESK went of their own accord and were not "poached" .

And we are all entitled to our own opinion that is after all what this forum is about.

"I have seen Sunny lane from the inside so i know what i am talking about."

So do I, my son is only 14 and is already sitting IGCSEs... Our daughter left Sunny Lane with so many high marks at IGCSE level her new school (the oldest in Berkshire UK) were knocked out. She's top in everything at her new school. No school is perfect.

"Everyone i know who has children in GAU are happy with it. "

Yeah well you must know some very easily satisfied people because no one I have met with children at GAU consider that they made a wise choice. all seem to be looking for alternatives The information I gave about exam re-sits was supplied from two separate qualified teachers there.

"All the teachers i know who went on to ESK went of their own accord and were not "poached" . "

So it's just co-incidence that a new school (the secondary part of which has only been going for a year) starts up and 6 of Sunny Lane's secondary teaching staff jump ship? Come on, it's classic head-hunti

i'm not going to get into an argument with you over this i was merely offering my opinion you are intitled to do the same but did it cross your mind that the teachers left due to being unhappy in their current situation and all jumped ship as soon as something better was on the table ??

My daughters aged 10 and 14 years old, at the time, started at GAU 5 years ago this coming September. My eldest left last year with 5 IGCSE's (A*ABBC), 2 A-Levels and 1 AS. She is now at Uni in London. We were overall pleased with GAU until last year when my youngest daughter had problems with one of the pupils. Despite my bringing this to the attention of the Head, nothing was done at all and my girl continued to have problems with this particular boy. As such, we took her out of GAU and she started her at Sunny Lane in September of last year. I have to say she is much happier, has a great bunch of nice school friends and has just sat her English IGCSE a year early. She loves the place and the teachers. I think you will find the fees at

GAU are significantly higher than Sunny Lane, ESK fees are even higher.

Most importantly, you must go and see each school before making a commitment. Visit each school and ask them to give you a tour and get a feel for the place. Good Luck.

I have been on a tour around Sunny Lane 2 years ago, and was very impressed, with the faclities and the teachers. I have friends with young children who go their and all are very happy with the way they are taught, both academically and behaviour and manners. Another friends daughter who is 3 is starting next term because of the recommendation of others. One friends 9 year old has done a complete turn around in all ways. He is now a polite, lovely child with very good manners. Having come from a Turkish school where fighting in the playground was the norm. he had a lot to learn, but the teachers are excellent and very caring. I would add that all these friends are Cypriots, and don't have a lot of money, but feel it worthwhile to give their children a good education.

As message 9 says, you need to go and see the schools and get a feel yourself.

Have to say, I have heard many things about Sunny Lane (British Academy of Northern Cyprus) both good and bad. I have 2 children aged 6 and 10 who have attended since January and they love every minute of it.

They are performing better than when they were in England and very happy and settled.

I would definately recommend Sunny Lane to anyone.

Please feel free to call me if you would like to talk 0533 841 8469

ps I have no other link to this school apart from mu kids being there and no I am not being paid !!!!!
