Late last night, when locking up, we found a poisoned dog out side our house in Ozankoy. It was our neighbours dog. The area is above Five Fingers holiday village, going up the road towards the mountains. Earlier I had seen him running up and down the road, as tourists were on their way down to the village. To all the dog walkers who frequently walk their dogs in this area, be warned, either use a muzzle, or put them on a lead.

When are expats going to realise it is stupid to have dog here, or to bring one here. They all suffer the same fate, Geoff

I was not talking about the lovely caring people who take care of sick or injured dogs, but about people who bring dogs here and then moan about them getting killed off. I think the UK's FCO/BHC sites should advise people of the risks to pets here. I did not mean to offend anyone - very sorry if I did in error. Geoff

Geoff... I did think that might be what you meant... but I have to say, although the risks are great...the chances of a safe and happy life, at least for those animals taken of 'the street', are greater with an owner than they are without... I do agree though, bringing dog over from the UK is a big decision, knowing the situation out here. But again, if it is a family pet - they are very hard to leave behind... It's a tough call... but perhaps you're right, the FCO/BHC sites should be vigilant in cautioning people about bringing animals over here.

We have two rescue dogs and would not be without them now. As for bringing dogs from UK or elsewhere...why rely on FCO, do your own research, after all, they are your "family".

if i had my way, the folk that did the poisoning, would be forced to lie down and Garry Mongers missus would jump out of the first floor bedroom, on top of them....... That'd make them think twice in the future.....
