Hi CrediwestRep, can you assure us that Creditwest Bank will not be involved with the type of dubious business conducted by Akfinas Bank. I know of several 'Expats' waiting to tranfer funds to more honerable bankers

We have very high standards when screening possible borrowers and refrain from extending credit which in our opinion could culminate in the hardship now being experienced in the Akfinans example.

I would just ask that all customers are treated the same. This morning I opened a new account, Lira and pounds and internet, and was in their for ages. That's ok, but I have aver the last 4 years opened accounts at 4 other banks, all of whom offered me coffee, while I ws filling in all the forms. While the customer sitting with the other Credit West person was drinking coffee, I didn't get offered any, and was dying for a cup, Eventually left with a terrible headache, and I would also add that it wasn't busy.

After Mr. Denktash's timely and considerate public warning that 1400 more innocent people are in line to be [apparently legally] 'scammed', Turkish Cypriot owned banks don't sound a very 'safe bet'. Before investing, I would want proof positive that any one of them isn't similarly dealing and consequently exposed to the same type of [alleged] 'clandestine and nefarious business activities' as Akfinans Bank. I would want a written, signed and notarised guarantee from the bank's owner and all board members that I would receive immediate and full compensation in the event of the bank's failure. The Central Bank 'guarantee' doesn't impress me one iota, given the state of the economy, which, after the Kulaksiz 5 episode, can only deteriorate further due to the enormous adverse publicity this 'shocker' has generated.

Tenakoutou I take your point and in an ideal world I would like to think that the bank's owner and board members would be willing to provide the guarantee that you allude to. However, I think that the chances are slim to say the least. That said, I am a very satisfied customer of Creditwest and have always found their services to be top notch. Do they have any skeletons in their cupboard/account books.....only time will tell, and if there are, then I am sure that people will take the action that they feel is most appropriate. Until then, I will continue to sing their praises as what I believe to be one of, if not the best bank in NC. Kind regards Paul

I fully realise that many people are totally satisfied with CreditWest Bank - my posting was merely a generalisation - certainly not aimed at, or specific to CreditWest.

HildySmith deposits are backed in the TRNC by an insurance fund into which banks have to contirbute by law, this in turn guarantees every deposit upto 20.000 euros or equivalent currency of your choice.

Hello everyone we are looking for a customer rep for one of our branches in Kyrenia, this person should ideally know English Turkish and have some banking experience but failing that we would also be pleased to hear from people who know both languages are enthusiastic and have an outward going personality to deal with mainly expat customers. You also need a TRNC ID card to work in the TRNC, anyone whos interested should email me with their CV and passport sized photograph on pazarlama@creditwestbank.com . Please feel free to email me with a recommendation of anyone you know in any of the other banks who provides you with an excellent service as a customer rep, we value your opinions and would definately take into consideration anyone you would recommend in confidentiality.
