Very sadly the owner of these cats has had to return to the UK unexpectedly and has had to leave them behind as she fears that they will not survive the flight/quarantine. They originally came from the UK, and would need a home where they can sleep in the house.

One of the cats is 26 years old the other is 18...they are 2 fluffy beautiful boys who adore each other and so desperately need to find a new home together where they can live out the remainder of their lives with someone who will love and care for them.

It needs to be a home with no dogs as they are terrified of them, not ever having lived with any.

If you are able to help please contact me on 0533 845 0962 or email m.p.m@live.co.uk

Many thanks

Karen

Back to the top please, sorry to be a bore but these lovely cats really need to be rehomed asap, they are in the garden of the house that the owner had to vacate, and as its a rental they cannot stay there. They are being fed daily but at their age they need some love and affection. Can anyone help?

These lovely cats are still looking for a home, time is running out for them now as the owner of the house is due to return to Cyprus shortly and the cats have to be gone at that time.

They are very sweet elderly cats who need someone kind to love them for the remainder of their days.

If anyone can offer them a home please call me on 0533 845 0962.

Thanks

I find it inexplicable how many British "HAVE" to leave the Island so unexpectedly - in such a rush, they have time to pack their belongings and settle other outstanding commitments, but don't have time to ensure the ongoing welfare of their animals - leaving them to "friends" to sort out. Two old cats like these deserve better than to be left on the street, which one is led to believe will happen, reading the above - as the owner of the property the cat owner was renting, is returning to Cyprus - so that dovetailed neatly - didn't it.................I would posit the cats would have a much better chance of survival enduring the flight and quarantine, than surviving being left to fend for themselves as rehoming two elderly cats is going to be much harder than rehoming one cat, or a younger cat - but leaving them behind of course, required nothing to be done on any level........animals have feelings; sadly no voice box to articulate them

I have to say that as a cat lover, my last 2 cats died at 27 & 28 respectively, but the owner of 3 big dogs, I can't help with re-homing. However in the circumstances, if the previous owner had had these two elderly felines for all of their lives it would have been more responsible, and kinder for the cats, to have had them put to sleep. Old cats like this would have no chance on the street and would be easy game for feral dogs.

Whatever the circumstances of the return to the UK I find this situation appalling. How do people sleep when they do things like this?

I truly hope someone gives them a home but if not they should be taken to the vet for a dignified end.

How about if you get the cats a Pet Passport from the South and then take them home to the country where they belong,

Thanks everyone for your kindness and comments. I am not at all happy with the situation that the cats have been left in. My parents are making the trip to the rental house every day to feed them. We have considered taking them to be put to sleep, but would really like to give them every chance of finding a new home before we do that.

If anyone feels that they could give these lovely old boys a good home please email me on m.p.m@live.co.uk

The lady who has posted is not the owner of the cats, she is merely trying to find a home for them.

The owner has 'done a bunk' back to the UK and left the cats to fend for themselves.

Kevin,

I'll "put YOU down": -

Your spelling's crap, and you're grammar is pretty useless...

There!

Seriously, that was a pretty uncaring remark, coming from an animal lover - just because you can't be bothered is no reason to weigh in with dodgy remarks when someone is making an effort to help the poor things.

Tinkie, the offer to post the pictures still stands if you're interested...

keith i really think the owners should have been put down, owning cats for 20 odd years then leaving them, they should have at least had to decency to put these poor animals to sleep, don't care about there excuses.

Tinkie - I do hope, should push come to shove, and the animals need to be put down, that you get the cost of that procedure, plus cost of food whilst you are doing all you can to get them re-homed - from the erstwhile, nameless (though I would name them) owner.

Can the pet fostering organisation here advertise the old boys? I will sponsor the cats, as I am sure others would do if someone can offer them a kind, loving home to end their days.

Would it be kinder to have them put to sleep? maybe. I have 4 cats that I brought out here, who already have to put up with the 6 garden/stray cats I feed every day and live in my garden. The house is just not big enough for more. It would not be fair to 2 elderly cats to subject them to fights/arguments with different cats in a new envronment. How could someone who has brought their cats out here just leave them. Good luck in fndng someone who can take them.

Thank you everyone for your support with this. Having recently had a beloved pet put to sleep I am stunned at how flippant some people can be about it. These are happy, healthy cats and I personally cannot be the one who makes the decision to end their lives, when what they need and want is a loving home.

I am very touched by the kind offers to sponsor these cats, if I could take them I would, but I have 6 cats and a jack Russel whose favourite pastime is to chases them all...no way that these old boys could get away from her in time!

I hope that there is someone out there who will be able to take them soon.

Thanks again

Keith I havent forgotton your offer, I will take some photos of them at the weekend and send them to you. Thanks.

Good luck with re-homing these two senior puss cats....what a shame that they have to be left behind like this, it must be heartbreaking for their current owner.

I think that's the point ............ they have no owner!!!

When I see just how many have viewed this subject.. i.e over 450 people I can't believe that they or people that they know couldn't help.

Or does everyone have dogs? I don't think so.

So come on all of you who DON'T HAVE DOGS..... please help.

All of the elderly cats that I've had in the past have been so loving.

I would love to help but I also have a dog, a cat and a baby.

I also offer to help with the cost of feeding, and or fostering these poor things.

Just a suggestion, why don't you make up some photocopies and post them at vets around Kyrenia with the info in Turkish and English. Something may pop up. I offer to do the same thing here if you mail me their pics and the relevant info.

Perhaps the new cattery in Catalkoy would be in a position to take the boys in at a reduced rate until a home is found? good publicity for them and sure the contributions from C44 members would cover food costs?

maybe their owner, now in UK, would also help towards upkeep if ths turns out to be a viable suggestion. I feel so sorry that these two old cats have been put into such circumstances, it is just not fair.

I am well aware of your attitude towards KAR. I merely suggested it as an option rather than putting the cats to sleep. I don't know when was the last time that you visited KAR, but they have a very well equipped cattery. I appreciate that it would not be the same as having an owner, but at least they would be well looked after and maybe, just maybe, someone may decide to take them.

I think that if all else fails i.e the adds re a new home in vets surgeries with photos............. then maybe the lovely new cattery as mentioned.

I'm sure that they would do a reduced rate and in turn it would be a 'golden star' for the cattery owners.

Tinkie why not give them a call?

Hi all..........

I've just now read this thread and have already 6 cats and 2 kittens (mostly rescued). I am prepared to take on the two cats if someone will sponsor them. Please understand I dont want to make a profit but these cats sound like they really need a nice safe place to live out their days.

Any of the above can contact me on 0533 8456019 or email h@harveyd.free-online.co.uk

I was not in a position to take these two chaps on as I am not yet in Cyprus but my faith in human nature has just been restored!!!! Bless you Cyprusharv for your very generous offer to give these two cats a home. Shame the owners weren't so caring. Great end to this quest and good luck with your increasing brood!!

Thank you so much Harv, I have just treid to call you but no answer. I am just off out for a little while but will try again when I get back. So many kind people have offered to sponsor the boys and of course we will too, so I am sure that we can co-ordinate something. Maybe have a drop off point for donations or something.

Once again thanks to everyone who has helped keep this at the top.

The old boys were dropped off at their lovely new home last night. We all have high hopes for a successful outcome as they couldnt have gone to nicer people, in a lovely location, where we hope they will live out the rest of their lives.

I would be very grateful for any donations to pass to the cats new owners to help towards their future care. I know that several people have offered to sponsor them, perhaps you could contact me on 0533 845 0962 or email on m.p.m@live.co.uk

The two old timers are doing fine and taking everything in their stride. I let them wonder around the garden today where they found a nice cool bit under the shade of some thick foliage. They just came for their dinner so I guess they feel quite comfortable already.
