Apologies if it's been asked before,

I tried a search initially.

Does anyone know where different brands of coffee are available, such as Columbian etc,?

Also if anyone has come across Nescafe Blend 37 (instant type) could they please let me know.

Thanks in advance, SS.

Best get yourself to Lefkosa, walk across the border to Debenhams to their food hall in the basement and you'll find all brands for at least half the price than in the TRNC.

Buy beans and grind them yourself, then you can cook your coffee to your own taste. 15TL a kilo from Con coffee behind the round house in Girne.

Orphanides is even cheaper than Debenhams for coffee, which is half the price of TRNC - coffee beans are available from Starbucks, or Gloria Jeans, but again, rip-off RoC prices - shudder to imagine what a few miserable [civilised!]coffee beans cost in the North, even if available.

We once bought some local coffee beans - yuk - chunder - had to chuck 'em!

Definitely visit Coffe World very near the Savoy Hotel in the centre of Girne, as Hildy says they sell the lot.

They sell roasted beans from all the very best producers... my favourite Colombian Medellin Supremo

I've just bought some coffee beans, ground for your preference (caffetiere, filter etc...) from Gloria Jeans in Girne - 7tl for 100g. They seem to have a good selection of flavours.

Are you talking about the electric variety Judy? You could use one of the tall brass hand grinders you can buy here. Would probably take quite a long time but good for the biceps

Would like to get hold of an electric one.......but if not, a hand one would do.

Grind and exercise at the same time!!

Thanks for the replies,

I had tried a few supermarkets west of Kyrenia and came up short, probably due to lack of demand.

I'll agree with you about the North Pole bit, the thread title must have been a dead give away ........but more to the point where are you & which supermarkets are you referring to that have all brands available?

I have now found some very nice Turkish Filter coffee, two makes in fact and when my German friend remarked how nice the coffee was, she was amazed to find it was a Turkish brand. One is Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi freshly ground filter coffee in Colombian or Brazilian blend. The other one is özerlat Filter coffee 500g for 12.50 TL. Can't now remember the price for the other one but it was similar

"Gloria Jeans sell coffee its pretty good to."

High street rubbish... served in cardboard cups - come on!

Coffee World (near the Savoy) - roasted on site - lovely.

Shooters at the entrance to the New Harbour road is also very good for real coffee...

At Coffee World Charlie stocks all the major coffee types including my absolute favourite Columbian Medallin Supremo... has to be tried to be believed.
