Geoff and Mary Day are back at court on wednesday, 10am start. Please, to keep todays momentum going can there be a good turnout from around 9.30 to show those in charge that we are full in fight back mode. It would be good to listen to the case from the horses mouth. There is a small seating area at back of court if anyone wants to go and listen and experience, it is all in Turkish. Only thing, do not talk, do not fall asleep the usher does not like it. Otherwise you can stay outside and talk to Mary as she is not allowed in court. If there is an indication of a few turning up then I am sure one of our contacts can get a press attendance. I know it is lonely week after week for these 2 turning out with just each other for company. Unless any thing untoward the 2 of us will be there around 9.30. The court is on the right of the building as you look from the road, there is little seating outside but plenty of standing room. David

Brinsley, I wouldn't dare pick you up on your spelling or your Grandma. I'm an its/it's man myself. It took me three tries to scrape GCE 'O' level English language.

Mal It was only meant 'tongue & cheek'! There were two GCE 'O' levels in English, grammar & literature. Bloody hard for me too as I was coming out of schooling in France. Keep up the good work, yet again! Richard

Anyway, this thread is about Geoff and Mary Day's court appearance on Wednesday. Perhaps they should tell us a bit about the case on Cyprus 44, knowing that the posts end up on Google. If not then this thread will go dead.

malsancak, I think mary has stated their case several times already on this forum that is why I have not gone into detail. I hear what you are saying but I know they get tired of repeating. At the end of the case there will be a real story to tell and I know people will be disgusted if Mary in particular tells all of what happened to them. As readers will appreciate the case is still in court and telling more than the basics will jepordise their case. David

.... and the jam tarts! Off with their heads! On a more serious note, coming close behind Sunday morning's (note the apostrophe!) debacle, it seems madness not to turn out in force to support these poor victims of this strange legal system.

| We were there this morning supporting this unfortunate couple, with about 15 more people, It was an open court so we could have watched proceedings, but unfortunately the judge ruled no shorts to be worn so we had to leave, Ada TV were there with Cyprus Today and Star reporters.Very best of luck to both them, lets hope they get a long overdue favourable judgement! | The case went ahead and evidence was heard. Outcome was that the case continues on June 14th. Be there to support Geoff and Mary. (and don't wear shorts, sunglasses on your head ... or have your mobile switched on..... and very importantly, don't talk in court or fall asleep). |

Hello all Well first of all many many thanks to all who turned up today, I walked around the corner to see everyone there I must say it was a very emotional feeling not facing this nightmare alone & that people are seeing this for what it is, great encouragement to us & all who defend our case. TV & papers out in force it's nice for others to get the message as to what really goes on.The prosecution want to bring a witness to state that we did not list Geoff's approx 35 year old mastic gun on our shipping list for our container so I presume that confirms that he must have stolen it from the builder. The outcome of today is we go back to court on June 14th at 10am from then on who knows. once again Many thanks Mary & Geoff

It was great to see how well you are bearing up in this awful ordeal. Hopefully there will be even more to support you on June 14th, now that people know how encouraged you were by today's turn out. Email me, Mary (contact details in member info), as I have forgotten the email address you gave me.

This is a frivilous case which should never have gone to court. And the system should see it as that - but it doesn't. And the constant postponements add to the view that it is a conspiracy. A conspiracy against people who dared to "put their foot down". It is important that Geoff and Mary are exonerated. And it is also important that they are supported by as many like minded people as possible. Please support them on 14th June.

Its to stupid for words isnt it, what does this builder think he can gain out of all this? No right minded Brit will use him, as wont other nationals if he so much as wins. You would be to scared just in case he accused you of taking something....... Black list this man.......

| Well no end in sight as yet sorry. More importantly a big thank you for your support today Geoff & I were overwhelmed when we saw you all there, the truth is it is so nice to know that you are not alone. Geoff spent the morning listening to the company accountant stating that the Fatura shown was for paint going back to November 2005 the company accountant by the way after being questioned reluctantly revealed that her maiden name was Recaioglu, yes the builders sister well we have already had the builders brother in court who did not know very much other than he was a share holder in the company but in fact did not actually own any shares in Reciaoglu Ltd. Confused hardly surprising. On a good note TV & press out in great force. Many of our supporters had been informed that they could not enter the court if they had shorts on or had bare shoulders, when the builder was in court no supporters could enter as the public court was then a closed court. | Well there we are, if kaiserphil has his facts correct, this builders name should be kept up the top of 44, as a lot of people ask for recommendations on here, perhaps we could recommend him to the bowels of the earth! |

I just don't understand how the TRNC judiciary cannot see this case as a flawed, trumped up attempt to intimidate Geoff and Mary. And the amount of court time that it has wasted! My confidence in the local justice system is at an all time low.
