I lived in Germany growing up and often we would go to a local deli for sandwiches. It was more than half my life ago, but I remember getting a sandwich on a roll that looked some type of minced light colored meat. The guy would then press the meat face-down in diced onions and that was it. I remember it being delicious. Any idea what that might have been?

Yes, that's freshly seasoned "Hackepeter" (grounded meat) with onions on top (from beef and pork) ... rather more uncooked as cooked You've made me hungry now! John

Walkerscott, that's it exactly. It's crazy, I've been looking for that information off and on for a long time now. I remember it being great. Now, the question is, where can I find *fresh* ground pork?
