One of the moderators once advised me to ignore idiots on this board. Easy to say, but hard to do when they enter any thread I start with lies - very close to libel in some countries. Even when it's about subjects they were never taught and still don't understand. So I've chosen a new strategy to keep idiots out of news flashes and activities that quite a lot of people here seem to (have) appreciate(d). The "Medieval Cyprus Fellowship" program for the second half of this year is almost finished and if you want to be informed about future historic walks, lectures, quizzes etc you can join the free MCF mailing list (subject to approval). Mail me at mcf.trnc@gmail.com and I'll be pleased to add your mail address to the list. - "Medieval Cyprus Fellowship", Hans Doeleman, mcf.tnc@gmail.com . The idiots must not win.

RE msg 2, Brinsley: (...) Does that include Hans Brinker?! (...) => No. But it does include you. And some others - most probably you'll find them below this message after a couple of hours. Making their own list of disapproved people for the MCF mailing list. P.S. He's called Hansje Brinkers and not Hans Brinker.

Can't walk, can't pay £10 for a map, can only understand RP so don't give a damn! Richard PS I always thought a resignation was to quit? Must start reading the English dictionary again as I'm confused!

I like Hans and his good lady. I have been on his walks, paid nothing and listened to his lectures. I was looking forward to going to Gazi Magusa but that was prevented. Tony, I am afraid you have lost the plot for whatever reason, your use of the English language leaves a lot to be desired. It is people like your good self that I tendered my resignation to this forum last week but like Hans I was asked to continue with my campaign mission. I am afraid that continued rudeness and infantile behaviour will certainly make me reconsider my choice after sunday, this is not a nice forum to debate and offer help to others any longer.

Hear, hear, David. When Cyprus44 was down after the Orams decision in January, I spent a bit of time reading the posts on the cyprus-forum and was horrrified by the vitriol that was being meted out there. In comparison, C44 seemed such a civilised forum where lively debate was intermixed with useful information. However, these personal attacks and bad language leave a sour taste in my mouth. I fear that useful contributers to the board will be hounded off if such behaviour continues.

If you give it out, you should be prepared to take it back, glass houses and all that. After throwing his dummy out of the pram, most on here knew it would not be long before he came crawling back!!

I agree that it is a two way thing and that there have been insults flying from both sides. I just think it is a shame that people are put off posting (and even reading) the board because of the bad feeling. I have enjoyed Hans' walk round Kyrenia, and, although I have not attended any of his lectures, would like to tap further into his expertise on the history of the island. I was really looking forward to Gazi Magusa walk. It is possibly naïve of me to hope that a line could be drawn under all the bickering from both sides and that we could move forward with a degree of civility abiding by the forum's rules: Rule 3. Be Polite We take the "Be Polite" rule very seriously. We do not tolerate any rudeness. Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully without insult and personal attack. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned without warning.

sloan, In answer to other comments, yes DC is a stroppy so and so at times but I would prefer him here teaching us about our great little country than having to listen to a lot of the other garbage that appears here. David

Thats the way i had to look at things when i first started posting.and what a laugh everyone had from me.but hay-ho...Keep up the good work that you do and dont get your knickers in a twist )) Spider,X |

This thread has already been taken of thread, Cyprusishome refering to Tony (Minertor) is not required, he has not even posted on this thread. Hans has merelt asked those who want info etc to register with MCF, he never started to have a go at Tony. People will soon jump on bandwagon and virtiol will soon be forthcoming!

It appears that only certain posters are allowed to be rude on this forum without receiving a ban, the Be Polite rule I thought applied to everyone.

Please can some one, either AJ , No1doyan, explain the workings of the amount of days that they think is fit to be banned for these silly 'remarks' etc from members? It sounds so stupid when any one gets banned for years, thats not democratic, this is a straight forward question, so please AJ can you explain, as it does look as if you perhaps do have a grudge against some. ...

japeal, you caught me out, I did notknow what you were talking about until I obviously counted back. That said I am surprised the bile was not deleted sooner. Just not needed on this or any forum. AJ, May be, so nobody else gets caught to delete my reference to minertor. David

AJ, if posting is deleted would it not be better to delete the actual post and overwite it with something like '. this post deleted by moderator'. That way when we read the topic at least we would know that a posting had been made.

I saw those postings this morning that Tony had made and I was absolutely horrified. They were beyond anything that should be allowed on any forum. I would only hope that he is banned for life.
