Hi Jay 76

If you want 100% safe no they are not. Read about the various type of title deeds to get the full picture. Exchange title previously had Greek Cypriot owners prior to 74

The GCs would dispute the "previously had Greek Cypriot owners prior to 74".

They consider the land/property still belongs to the original owner. Might be interesting if a settlement ever comes.

No they are not safe!!

But then is crossing the road or flying in an airplane?

It depends on if there is a settlement that does not consider these properties. If the (U)sless (N)ations are involved then who knows what might happen.

We are buying on "exchange" land and have considered the option if somebody comes later for compensation, what would we do?

Whatever the answer pink pigs flying overhead are usually heard!!

Nobody will tell you it is safe, except maybe an estate agent. There is enough info on this and other sites, from that info, you must make up your own mind.

I have bought exchange years ago with full knowledge of what that might mean, but ,was willing to take the gamble that nothing will happen in my lifetime. If Iam wrong then that gamble hasnt paid off.If, as I think,I have made the right decision then it has and I get to live in TRNC.

As it was a gamble ,I paid only what would allow me to lose the lot and walk away, down but not out ,but again, everyones atitude to risk is different.

For me ,the pros of living in NC.outweigh the cons and therefore make the gamble worthwhile but not to such an extent that I would gamble everything, there are other factors to consider.

As I get older I personally am more concerned about things like climate change and bladder problems than I am about deeds, which most of us have still to receive anyway.

Dont forget that even if you buy Pre74 title deeds you still may not be given your permission to purchase and so wont be able to own it under those circumstances

Jay76.

I would ask your advocate or The HPBG, Certainly the Government of The TRNC cosiders

Exchange land legitimate title, and I believe the aforementioned would advise you likewise.
