We have Delta units that have never been working effeciently. They seem to blow out the same as having a floor standing fan on. so never cold. They were gassed several times last year and serviced, arranged by the builder. We would like to at least replace the main bedroom unit which is a 9000btu. Can anyone recommend a good quality, effecient running unit please?

Mrs Snakes,

Your Delta units need their pipework repairing, not continually re-gassing. However, you might want to save your money towards better equipment as that brand is not something I would put my name to, to say the least.

We supply and instal 9000Btu Fujicool units, "A+" rated for efficiency and using R410a refrigerant (ozone layer friendly) for the sum of 400 Euros, subject to location and survey .

Hi Pixie,

Sorry, didn't hear the phone as was on motorbike.

12000Btu Fujicool R410a, class "A" energy efficient unit supplied and fitted costs 500Euro. 18000Btu - 700Euro.

annie,

9000Btu unit, as above, costs 400Euro.

Fujicool is a brand I have used for some years. They are reliable and the importer carries spares going back 7 years.

We have had Beko units installed now for over four years now and as it happens they were here today to replace the transformer on one of the units as the spike in electricity going on and off lately blew it. I was speaking with the technical guy who told me that an a/c uint never needs to be regassed. If it does require regassing that means there is a leak somewhere.

Beko and Arcelik are LG branded units and are highly efficient and not the cheap old units that are floating around. The difference can be seen many years later when you have to replace the cheaper Delta units and the like.

My advice would be to pay the extra and fit a good quality brand

ataturk,

If the units are installed properly they won't ever need re-gassing. Some High Street firms here sub-contract installations and pay their subbies a flat rate. I have seen these guys at work and many of their installations leak. Delta is a brand which I couldn't recommend to anyone.

Basheer,

Sorry. Don't understand your question....

Vaughan,

At the risk of being a pain may I enquire about the guarantee and also do you install inverter air conditioners?

I was just reading this other thread where they were talking about the savings long term. http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/7442.asp

Could you please let me know the price? My husband says he wants a well known brand because hes worried we might nt be able to find parts in the future...

Gooligan,

I don't think we could fit a unit for you until late next week.

Pixie,

We guarantee our Fujicool units for 3 years. The importer of these units carries spares going back 7 years. There are a few units in TRNC which are cheaper than Fujicool, but I wouldn't put my name to many of them. Beware of badged units sold through white goods outlets.

The energy savings you make with an inverter unit will pay for the difference in cost in 2 to 3 years. If you live here full time I definately recommend them to you.

We can supply and instal a 12000Btu R410a, class "A", inverter driven unit for 750 Euros. An 18000Btu unit will cost 950 Euros.

Littlemo,

Portable a/c units are usually only a temporary measure used in countries like UK where we have the odd "heat wave" for a week or two. They are not efficient nor powerful and I would advise you to save your money towards a fixed unit.

Hi Vaughan I have been getting conflicting info on the size aircon we should get, we have an open plan living area approx 34 square metre. what size will keep me cool and why do some refer to Kw and some BTU I saw your post giving me cost for 9000BTU is that the same as 24000 Kw?

Regards Annie

Hi annie,

A 34m2 room enclosed room would need a 6.8kW (21000Btu) unit. If by open plan you mean including the stairwell, then in the heating season you would need an even bigger unit, as the heat would rise and be "lost" upstairs.

Some countries use the metric system and refer to kW, whereas Japan and China, which deal mainly with the USA, still use the Imperial System (Btu or British Thermal Unit) as the States has not gone metric, and probably never will.

To convert Watts to Btu simply multiply by 3.14. So 24000kW is the "equivalent" of 75,360,000Btu.

9000Btu is 2.86kW

Hi vaughan

we have an apartment so although the measurement does not include short hallway to bedrooms etc it is all on one floor. Would you give me a price fitted for the 21000Btu and the model you recomend plus availability please. We are here permanent but do not plan to use it unless really needed hopefully July/Aug only and Jan/Feb for heating.

Regards

Annie

Annie,

I recommend Fujicool 24000Btu, R410a units as follows:

Either

Non-inverter

900 Euros, supplied and fitted.

Inverter

1200 Euros, supplied and fitted.

Quotes are subject to survey (what floor is your apt on?) and are valid for 30 days.

Units are ex-stock and we could possibly instal sometime early/mid next week.

Please e-mail me if you want to proceed on:
