Six year old boy killed just because an adult drives at 100mph while talking on mobile. How long will this continue! When will people realise! I know it has been said before, but please please please, don't drive fast and don't talk on the mobile. And for heaven's sake, please wear seat belts and be alert. The poor boy was buried today as my friend attended his funeral. Pray for his soul.

Until the Police on this island make a stand and clamp down on the bad driving habits that have been adopted in this country, we will continuously see life's wasted! No adult should die in these circumstances let alone a 6 year old boy. RIP Chris

Something needs to be done. What amazes me is people who own fancy flash cars which cost thousands mostly to show off yet they cannot afford a hand free system. I own a tatty old BMW with an ALDI bluetooth radio, but it means I can answer the phone without if affecting my driving. If they have so much money to spend on flash fancy cars why can they only use a handset?????????? I pray for the poor boy and his family.

Poor standard of driver training, laughable driving test which no-one fails, non-existent MOT screening of unroadworthy vehicles and the attitude of the police/courts all contribute to road accident rates as high as anywhere else in Europe.

I was in the car with my son in the UK, he has a hands free system, (thingy stuck on his ear) when he answered a call, I noticed his concentration was certainly not on his driving!! he assured 'mum' he would pull over in future to answer, but at 44yrs old, I have a feeling he only said that to make me feel better! all types of phones should be banned when driving! RIP little boy x

You didn't actually mention the bad driving Vaughan, you blamed everything else but the guy driving and regarless what you decide to blame it won't bring back the poor boy.

Everon, I agree completely. It is not the physical phone that matters as much as the concentration. Many people have a hand off the wheel for many reasons - smoking, eating, drinking, tuning the radio, changing the disc, changing gear, thumping their husband - so why does standard/hands free matter so much. Slowly passing one woman (English I would guess) on the dual carriageway a month ago, I saw her head below the dashboard rummaging around on the passenger side for what transpired to be a bottle of water which she then required both hands to open and one to drink - with her head so far back she could not possibly see the road. At about 80kph. But that's OK because maybe she had a hands free phone. Nurseawful (Message 2) - the police do crack down. Every week Cyprus Times lists the driving offences reported in the preceding week including "using a mobile phone" - this week it was 50 out of a total of 405 offences. I know it's not many but it shows it is not ignored

| Some people have so little regard for life . For their own , or for others it would seem . Such a pointless waste of life , and untold misery and pain for that poor little boys family , and also for the family who's boy caused his death , they will have to live with what their son has done for the rest of their lives .
