Only time I saw CT on line was 3 years ago. Shame really as the amount of hits it would get from people in UK would be phenomenal. Must be a reason for not doing it. Although I believe sister paper Kibris is on line

RE msg 3, cyprusishome: (...) Must be a reason for not doing it. (...) => Very easy to explain. Hardly any paper in this world makes money with an on line edition. (Few exceptions: The Wall Street Journal and other high class special news papers for high class readers). Advertisers: difficult to get them (they use their own web sites). Subscriptions: a complete failure - readers in not one country are prepared to pay for news. The future for on line news papers is bleak. More and more publishers decide to minimize the on line staff (I can give you plenty of examples) and also decide to ask money for subscriptions. "Hits don't bring money so any money via subscriptions is better than no money" is now the slogan in the on line news world. Sad, but this is how it is (I've seen this happen many years now in the journalistic world).

Thanks Hans, You explained that so much better than I could have. I would also add that most TV/Internet based news agencies also have online reporting which is much more updated and therefore many more people will chose to read it. BBC,CNN, MSN, Yahoo. I can honestly say the only paper newspapers I have even read over the last 5 years are either the free ones you get when walking onto a plane or such papers as Cyprus Today and that's only because it has the local information I seek that is not available online. With that in mind they are better off not going online if they wish to survive. Paul
