| The healthy properties of beer when consumed in moderation are not well understood, according to a new report. The drink is a rich source of vitamins, fibre, minerals and antioxidants and has a relatively low calorific value compared with many other alcoholic beverages, the study says. The report, commissioned by The Beer Academy, which aims to help people enjoy beer sensibly, found that when drunk in moderation, beer is one of the healthiest alcoholic drinks available. | The key words there are "drunk in moderation" same with red wine good for you by the glass and not the bottle!!! I hate beer or any description but suppose I could take a spoonful if prescribed. Chris |

| Chris, in your professional opinion is a barrel a day a little more than moderate, I only ask because I don't want to cut down unless I have too? |

| The bit i don't like is 'commissioned by the Beer Academy'. I have recently read a report on longevity which encourages the eating of nuts commissioned by the Tree Nut Council and one that recommends the drinking of tea, recommended by (yes, you've guessed it!) the Tea Council. Some independent research from bodies without a vested interest might cut more ice. |

| Dear Dr. Bob (message3) Can you change the prescription as I hate the bloody stuff. Thank you Proger 1 A barrel at a time will give you a beer belly so stop now while you can still fly home here to NC. Chris p.s. Rocky be very very careful what you say on here about female hormones as they have a tendency to erupt at times!! |
