| Why not? What is there for them to do in Cyprus, while they are needed in places like Gaza and the rest of the world’s hotspots? Sooner the UN leaves better it is for Cyprus as a whole. Greek Cypriots will not be able to blame the UN anymore. They can then start badgering the EU and perhaps then the EU will realise what kind of a headache they have inherited by allowing the Greek Republic of Cyprus into the EU as Republic of Cyprus. |

| YFred I agree The UN serve little purpose in Cyprus and as you rightly say could be used to greater effect elsewhere. They are not a peacekeeping force as 'peace' already exists and should they choose to withdraw it is extremely unlikely that either side would 'cross' the border - it would be political suicide on a worldwide stage.
