Dear All

With reference to the Turkish Civil Aviation General Directorate’s letter of 21 June 2010 all Kıbrıs Turkish Airlines flights are suspended until further notice.

As of today we are working hard towards finding a solution to relieve the inconvenience caused to passengers who are planning to fly in the near future.



In view of this respect we are makings attempts to facilitate the carriage of passengers with other airlines that operate to Cyprus.

We recommend to our passengers, agents and other organisations to follow the latest information on our website (www.kthy.net ), through our call center (0216 444 5849) and the local press.

We believe that we will be out of this negative situation in a short period of time and request that there will be no doubt that operations will be allowed to continue to serve our people, passengers and tourists in a safe environment which we have done for over 36 years

CTA There seem to be a lot of rumours going round and little sustainable fact. Much of it is from media that seems to know nothing more than yet more rumour.

A few people are complaining about things most of which is out of date anyway.

Can I suggest that unless you can confirm facts from at least three sources don’t put it in print it is just another rumour and those are part of what has caused this problem.



Like all the operators if KTHY goes down we will lose substantially as we have to protect our clients – have you heard any other tour operator complain? No they are waiting for the truth as we do at IAH.

I am privy to things that need to be confirmed and until I can give facts; I will not. I am sure many of the rumours will prove malicious and unwarranted.

In the next 72 hours do not panic yourself or anyone else & try to be as nice as possible to KTHY staff who are trying to help you while they face the prospect of possibly no money and no job at the end of the month.

Dear all



This is what I know and I am on Holiday in UK!



I flew over on Monday to UK for a "shopping trip" - empty suitcase and 25k to buy !!! Due back this Saturday.



Today my partner phoned me to say he had received a phone call from our travel agent to advise me that

the Airline has gone bust and they are trying to get me back to Cyprus with Pegasus who have taken over CTA

flights but there may be a delay!! They will confirm Thursday this week.



Not really a problem I say, more days to shop perhaps - Hang On - isn't Pegasus baggage allowance only 20k Thats a problem!!



So I will wait till Thursday, in the meantime I will just buy 20k!!

if you're nice, they might be nice back. Perhaps that's why I find SOME of the staff are nice. Hopefully they'll be the ones who keep their jobs.

Clive Msg 9 - do you want their help? If not don't be nice to them. They are probably far more stressed and harrased than you (having talked to a lot of clients with the same problem and tried to advise them) and may even have less information than you.

Can't say for certain about anything but replacement flights put on by Atlas are already scheduled and showing on the Arrivals and Departures board for both Manchetser and Stansted this evening/tonite. (Flight code KK!)

this latest fiasco with CTA is the second time in a month that we have been put through the mill with them , three weeks ago the same happend when news first broke that they where on the brink but atlasjet saved the day . we are flying out again ( fingers crossed) in a month and we are yet again unshure what will happen.

one things for certain we wont be handing any more money to CTA thats definate.

its bad enough flying with them and not being able to buy a beer .

into larnaca from now on im afraid.

Spoke to KTHY and it seems to be resolved. They wouldn't say who had taken them over only that there would be an announcment. All tickets remain valid, same times at same airports.

jimbo good luck it took me 1year to get a refund, i phoned them up for the upteem time and said happy aniversary and went on and on. the cheque was waiting for me in thier office that afternoon and i was offered a job xxxx
