If you fancy a relaxing lunch with an amazing view, I suggest a visit to horseshoe bay. The menu is typically Turkish, well, we do live in Cyprus. Kebab, fish salad chips etc., meze if you want to start. All cooked fresh on the BBQ. Sundays, they have a Pan pipe player, I can't remember his name, but ohhhh, it's such a wonderful sound, along with the smell of Bbq food cooking and the views. The beach, the eating area and the bbq area has been refurbished this year , it's well worth a visit.

If you go to the west from Girne , past Alsancak, Lapta, Karsyaka . You will drive along the sea , when you see night clubs , leave them on your left and continue driving along the sea towards the village Kayalar. 5 km from the main road on the seaside you will see the first and the only sign there "Horse Shoe " restaurant and bar. Beautiful place , friendly owner , basic Turkish dishes .

Oopps, sorry. If you're coming from the Girne area, go through Alsancak, Lapta and karsiyaka. Past the army camp and Guzelyali beach. Take the next turning right towards Kayalar and the nightclubs. Noooo, don't stop there!!!!, follow this lovely road, and it's magnificent views until you see the sign on the right hand side for horseshow beach. It's about a mile from the turning to the beach. Well worth the trip.

It was closed on Mondays last year. Might be worth a phone call before you set off. Last phone number I have for the place is 0553 861 6664. If this is wrong perhaps someone could post the correct number? D2

How anyone can rave about this place is beyond me! Menu choice ----fish or kebab! And the drive, just not worth it.

The food is nothing special, but the place and the setting is out of this world, (places like this should be kept secret) They have done an excellent job of cleaning the beach area.

we went when it was too windy to sit outside, when we sat at our table inside the owner told us that it was OK to smoke inside (people were eating). When my hubby went outside to smoke the owner thought this very strange and lit up himself! not impressed!

Friend took me there once as it was a safe and sheltered beach but not sandy. We had local home made cheese which I remember was delicious, and the children served us. The mezes were lovely. Simple but wholesome food.

Yes, the phone number is still the same. They've done a really good job clearing the beach. It was mentioned last Sunday that there were going to be numerous lorry loads of sand being delivered. As far as the 'loos' go, yes they are a very basic, but what do you expect, it's a beach bar. For goodness sake, give the guy a chance, it's nice to see the man spending his hard earned profits refurbishing the place. As for the BBQ area being a free for all, they charge a nominal fee so that locals can take their own food, but use the facilities.
