These prices will make the property market in TRNC as well as the tourist market non-existent very soon. Monarch have great deals for families to the likes of Egypt in all inclusive complexes. The weather is great and they are out of the Euro zone as well and the flying time is similar. They already have a big share of the market and they will be getting more if Cyprus does not wake up. Property prices are also even better or on a par with TRNC and lots of our friends are now looking at that market. Cyprus will price itself out of the running soon. We need better flights at reasonable rates to attract tourists. The prices to the South are not too bad but by the time transfers have been added and perhaps at least one overnight stay it brings the price way back up again.

I saw Direct Traveller on here a few days ago with some reasonable priced flights but not sure they were for a month. Might it be better to try for a shorter period? Or even, look to get a return flight then look at singles back as well on the date you want and forego the return leg of the return? Just musing really.

| Sometimes it is better to book an all inclusive holiday as it can work out a lot cheaper than flights only and of course you do not have to stay at the hotel that is part of the package. We have done that a few times in the past and have just stayed in the hotel for the first and last night only (to take advantage of free airport transfers) and the rest of the time we spent in our villa. | Someone I work with just booked end august to Egypt 4 star all inclusive for 10 night £430.00 total from Luton. If he'd gone via Gatwick it would have been £100 LESS. As someone said, Egypt has the weather, no Euro and to add, their hotels in general knock spots off the 'supposed' 4 star hotels in Cyprus. When will they WAKE UP!!!!!!!! |

millzer Having spent a fair bit of time living and working in Egypt and living in so called top class hotels in Egypt (the Cairo Hilton comes to mind) I would not recommend the place to anyone. Also stayed long term at the Heliopolis Hotel which is supposed to be one of the top hotels in Egypt but there are certainly better and cheaper hotels in the TRNC. AJ

Following the collapse of KTHY, Pegasus are now the only route from Stansted to Ercan without change of aircraft. People have known that KTHY was on shaky ground for the past few months, and I myself and a number of people stopped booking with them years ago since Pegasus started. It therefore does not suprise me that all of the cheaper seats have gone, demand has risen and any remaining seats are very expensive. People can thank the TRNC governments both past and present for the shambles that was KTHY.

Sue msg 11 - The prices were set on Pegasus / Turkish / KTHY etc well before the Ash crisis and have not changed the last seats for many years have been expensive on scheduled aircraft. The agents who hold charter seats have kept very quiet as they are probably juggling like mad and are sorry they sold off cheap seats two weeks ago.

Let's see it costs about £1 a mile for a 12 seater bus from Alsancak to Larnaca, £2000 to London for 12 people. It's cheaper by bus and probably quicker, we need Jeremy Clarkson to test this

we,fortunately, booked our flights withTurkish Arlines. This may sound really odd - but I'm not too displeased about tourists not coming to TRNC - it is absolutely fantastic as it is.

jacot, the way things are going there may eventually be only a few of us left, especially when the restaurants starting putting the prices up because they have less customers. 100 customers means the meal is £10, 50 means £20 and 10 means £100 - it's simple economics.

Re msg 24 - exactly, how do the 'powers that be' not see what damage they are doing? And Malsancak, you are correct, that is exactly what they do, less customers put the prices up until no one goes back! Thier thinking patterns are hard to fathom out.
