Well I suppose that they get on with life no matter what hardships are thrown at them and keep a cheery face. That is something to be proud of instead of finding fault with their lives all the time which only makes you more depressed.

Erecting a perimeter fence for security and then putting a gate in it.

Placing a 3 ft high pool surround light immediately in front of entrance and exit of swimming pool steps.

Creating wiring systems for complexes that work only periodically.

Fitting all doors the wrong way round so water gushes in.

Offering major surgery for a slight hernia problem.

Went for a coffee today at a little place on the road up to Karaman, glorious spot, fantastic views, enjoyed my coffee and as I was leaving the owner shouted me back and gave me some plants from her garden that I had been admiring. Most of the TC people that I know are charming, there are good and bad in all nationalities, please don't blame the ordinary man in the street for the shortcomings of a few bad eggs.

Agree hattikins, Everytime my water man comes to fill my pool up he and his wife spend a half hour weeding the garden and pruning trees,plants etc.

I agree with several above.



Most of us have been screwed one way or another by a minority or rogues. When you explain to most TC why you are angry and irate they just cannot believe what is going on, remember little of our complaints go into Turkish press so all we are is "whinging Brits".



Another thing that must be remembered is many of the rogues and problem causers are foreigners themselves, either Turkish or British usually.



I like the laid back way of TC people and once used to it you become part of it.



TC people are very generous, in all ways nothing is too much trouble.



My list would continue in that vein.

The TC's I have met are wonderful people. I am movng to TRNC before the end of the year and am looking forward to learning about the history of the area and the people and experiencing a different culture. Not sure if I will stay on C44 with all the negative *** on it tho.

A lot of the TC's are generous with their time, people have taken time out and have genuinely wanted to help us (with nothing in return), we have had tyres fixed, chairs mended, 21 page faxes sent, the list is endless, with no charge, where else would you get that? In the main, they are good at being lovely, homely, welcoming people who just want to get on with their lives.

last week, a good friend of mines mother was involved in a collision in her car, the other driver, lady (TC) was at fault was very apologetic and called her husband and daughter in law who arrived promptly, my friends mother is deaf and dumb so had difficulty communicating although she can lip read well, she cant with turkish tho, anyway it turned out that the daughter in law was a sign language teacher, what are the chances of that happening, the whole situation was dealt with perfectly and no police involved and all repairs carried out and paid for, another lovely TC family and a nice end to a potentially horrible situation as noone was hurt.

That's a very feelgood story , but I would always advise that if anyone is involved in a car accident then DO get the police involved...otherwise you won't have a leg to stand on if you need to pursue an insurance claim.

Giving you a fair price and attentiveness for goods or services but if you are stupid enough to subsequently return to the same trader for more, even the next day, in the main the price will have increased very considerably and more than one subsequent visit is financial suicide. Have found some who value your custom and treat you fairly if you loyally return but they seem to be few and far between. Those first mentioned I think of as "seeing no further than the bonnet of their new Mercedes", and thankfully, seem to be the ones who have a short lived business.

Being happy regardless - standing quiet and still for five minutes every 10th of November - being proud of and supporting their country and flag at all times and not just at football matches!

They comment on their friendliness and good nature.



The criticism is levied at the TRNC regime not the people.

I think you read my last the wrong way around - totaly! I am not and never have played the "victim" card and I have never felt that the TC's have ever played it either. Above all else and without continued complaint to the rest of the world - they have got on with life and they have lived!



For myself I have nothing but admiration for the TC's and will continue to have regardless of all comments that will no doubt seek to prove that without everyone elses help they would have foundered 35 years ago.



A good hearted and helpful people who smile and get on with life.
