If you have managed to get points for a speeding fine in the TRNC, how long do they stay on my TRNC licence, also if you are unlucky enough to get to the point that you will loose your licence, how long do you loose it for.

I think I can answer this one. If you get 100 points your licence is taken away for 3 months. Next 100 points and you kiss goodbyeto it for 6 months. It doubles every time you get 100 points. The points are reset to zero every 15 months, so if you manage to avoid 100 points in 15 months it will all be forgiven and forgotten. If you go and pay your fine when you get a ticket, the points are recorded against you automatically. I have a collection of 10 tickets from speed cameras and I have not paid any and I have not had any summonses for court yet. I suspect I will never get it. tht is another story. ismet

msg. 3 The only problem occurs if they are not able to deliver the ticket to your address. So make sure you have an up to date address with the car registration people. I have 10 unpaid fines and nobody bothers me when going in and out of the country.A ticket is not proof of guilt, only a judge can say whether you are guilty or not and not before a proper trial. ismet

Ismet, In UK you must be notified by the Police within 14 days of the alleged traffic offence otherwise it is not valid. Is there a similar notice period here and if so, what is it?

msg 10 Groucho, We have no such limit. We do have an outdated law whereby small charges should be brought within six months, the original version stipulted those cases carrying imprisonment of 3 months or 25 Cyprus pounds fine. Now that figure is I think 72 TL and even the most minor traffic offence carries a penalty above that. so for all intends and purposes there is no time limit at all. ismet

If i dont pay them would i be able to cross back over to the south to return to larnaca and what trouble would i have next time crossing over from the south. |
