how can TRNC estate agents charge 17.5% on top of their charges? is VAT charged at that rate in TRNC? as if we havent already paid enough tax in buying the property. any advice? we have never had an invoice from the estate agent so cant check to see if they are even registered.

The standard rate of VAT in the TRNC is 16%. This is charhed on top of their fees, as it would be in the UK.

msg 1; Putting this on forum is not going to help or change anything for you.Why dont you ask the agency? However, you could always put their name/s on here in order to make people aware!! TRNC is a very little community in a very little island, but that doesnt mean nobody pays anything into the estate. Even I pay something every month with my NI contributions,a whole 7 liras of it.
