META 2010 update please

Cant find any recent posts on META. Those who have it can they advise on which channels to go for. Im not into sport. Im into films, comedy, chat shows etc Opra for example. Im on a low budget.



They offer nilesat at 250 tl (1 Korax receiver, whatever that means (but my friend already said they not happy with that and arabic sub titles block the lower screen always and nothing interesting comes on until late at night).



They also offer showtime at 450 pounds (3 dishes) and say it will get scrambled now and then and they will charge to fix it. Is arabic subtitle shown on every channel too?



SO Whats the feedback please.

i tried meta before and i really would advise you to steer clear.........however that is just my experience.

Yes, we have tv and internet through meta. We have a dream box and get films, sports, BBC lifestyle, BBC prime, Sky News, BBC World, Arabic and Turkish stations, Eastenders is about 3 weeks old, I have seen Corination Street on there somewhere but we hardly watch TV that much, just catch up with the news each morning and on mostly in the background some evenings. I think I paid £650 one off charge a year ago. Adult channels would of been extra they said!!! Internet extra. Its okay. I guess if I had somewhere to put a great big Sky dish and disguised a bit, I would of opted for that but we now live a different life here and try to get out more!!

been using meta service for 3 yrs never had a problem, there's free to air box is about 25 english speaking programs, and it's a one of fee, something from digiturk, will be a monthly fee,

Lostfound, found my receipts, it just says 'dreambox, internet and nilesat, wireless, £600 stirling. But we have 'showmovies' and 'showsports' so maybe it is showtime? I think that was for installation of both, and internet at 512 speed is about 55TL a month. I remember paying up front 12 months internet and getting 14 months. Sorry I cannot be of more help. I have just been told by Snakes that BBC Prime has changed to BBC Entertainment!! We also have MTV and VH1 music channels, Discovery, Fox movies.

What about d-smart? One-off installation for small dish and box about £200 from what I recall plus annual charge ranging from 100TL to 300TL depending on the package you want. We paid 300TL this year for the full package which includes sport. Four dedicated movie channels mostly in English and pretty up-to-date, comedy, TNT (also shows movies at 8pm), CNBCe (Desperate Housewives, CSI type stuff), E2 (similar to CNBCe), Discovery Channels, plus some other channels showing UK and US series, Aljazeera English for News and CCN and Eurosport.

we have Never had the proper deal we were promised...we got a dodgy box to start with

botech rubbish which overheats



then we were offered some extra box add-on which again DIDN'T WORK



while the world cup was on...

i have just been informed by meta that in order to recieve essentially what i was supposed to recieve in the frist place, IE all the channels... i should now fork out another 250 ytl...with an additional 50 ytl as a call out charge!



we have never had a decent service from these people...the woman is really dodgy and skirts round issues of concern while on the phone.



the service is a pirate sevice which is known to the real providers...i figure they have blocked us! so



anyone want to buy a botech box and a satallite dish? [joke]

What's wrong with Digiturk??? It shows BBC Prime (Ent), news channels, E!, OW on Home Channel now, film channels, sport, football, ..........................plenty of stuff in English.................Nat Geog, Zone, History, Wedding, Jamie Oliver, American Idol, EASTENDERS, recent films, ..................goes on and on.................. Plenty for me!! What else do you want to watch?? And only ever has problems with the picture/signal if there is a MAJOR STORM going on.
