Any ideas how I can contact Skype when it no longer recognises my username, password or email address? I have tried every which way but cannot contact them unless I log in and for some reason since I downloaded the latest version it doesn't recognise me. I know I can simply create a new account but I really don't want to lose my contacts list and also I think someone has hacked my account as there have been unauthorised top ups through Paypal. Any help would be appreciated.

Normally Skype will send all the details to your e-mail address after you click the forgotten password Icon. If it doesn't even recognise your e-mail address then I think that you are unfortunately screwed. It is quite easy to find your contacts again within the skype system should you choose to start a new account, as for the credit card top ups, that is worrying. It might be wise to contact the CC company and tell them to block payments to Skype but that in itself will give you problems starting a new account unless you use a different card should you have one.

Thanks Paul and yes I agree I am probably screwed. I think someone has cloned my account. Paypal are refunding the top-ups so at least that has been sorted. It is so frustrating when you cannot contact them at all when you have major problems.

Hi Catalkoykid, yes I do have it set-up to auto top-up for £10 but the amounts that have been taken have been £23 3 times in one day and it definitely hasn't topped up my Skype account as it was only £4.86 in credit and I haven't used it for ages. That is why I think it has been hacked or cloned or something. Wroxham is that an email address or website? I have tried emailing and using online support but you have to log-in to use it and it does not recognise me!

Websıte: Yahoo click on help for skype, then lost my password, then a customer support box comes up - you may be able to get some help there.

Yes, if you don't have a toolbar with Yahoo or Google on. You need to type: support.skype.com in the search engine box. Hope this helps

Thanks for your help. I managed to find a way to send a support request without logging in. Fingers crossed they will respond although the fact that they needed to know my inside leg measurement doesn't fill me with hope.

I've got to the point where I'll take anything they offer Cooper! I have received a confirmation email that they received my request so I'm a little more hopeful now. Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi Cyprusairsoft I have now had a response from Skype that someone had accessed my account and changed my password and email details. They have reset it and it is blocked until I ask them to reactivate it. I am using Norton 360 for security. Is this sufficient do you think? Jo

Oh, and one more thing - NEVER use the same password for more than one thing - that way, if one of the sites has poor security or is hacked, then at least they can't use your password from that site to access other accounts...
