please can someone tell me how to get to TRNC 31st august to 7th september - what do you people who own properties out there do at this time of year?

thanks for any help, chrissie

Try travel republic to Larnaca. They may have flights from a local airport then a taxi to North but order your taxi from the north. Travel Republic have many late offers even just a few days before.

This seems a bit strange because I have booked a return flight only for my Dad in September although I did this in April. Have you tried their website? http://www.flypgs.com

As for affordability, you have left it late for that because August and September are peak season and the time when Cypriots/Turks are travelling for their holidays. It is common knowledge here that it is nigh on impossible to get tickets for end August/early September for that reason. Therefore prices are very high.

If you can travel a bit later, I booked a flight only last week one way 3rd September for £101. They are a bit more expensive now, 3rd september- 10 September is £310 return, yet if you book two one way tickets, it costs £265.

With Cyprus Turkish Airlines.

We use skyscanner to book flights into Larnaca, there are always cheap alternatives to be found.

Try http://flights.monarch.co.uk/index.asp

I have found them to be the cheapest at the moment for flights to Larnaca.

good points joandjelly - yes, i tried the pegasus website and spoke to gary at cyprus premier who gave me the info at the top.

i've managed to find an overnight flight on xl.com which compares well to the monarch flights price-wise but with better travel times.

gosh, who would have thought it could be so difficult ...

thanks for the assistance everyone.

You might also be able to reduce the cost by flying (via Larnaca) out with one airline and back with another. We did this in July flying to UK with Thomas Cook (to Stansted) and back with Monarch (from Luton). At the time this saved loads but then you do have to pay for everything on top like luggage, food, seats, etc. It was still much cheaper for us though.

I know its a bit oddball but easyjet are flying gatwick to paphos and there is to be a bus service to Lefkosa? I have booked a 14day return in feb 09 for £68 each for two of us with no luggage. Will hire there and drive the extra bit for the saving. Rates end august look like low 200s.

Trying to book this late at one of the busiest weeks of the year I think.

It is end of school holidays and people are returing to UK, students returning to university from here to UK. Others are coming out here for end of summer.

Did you try Turkish airlines. Fly daily from MAN and LHR I think.

yup, i tried all the suggestions offered above, many thanks to all.

i've gone for an overnight flight with xl.com (flashing away at the top of this page!), luton to larnaca for £232 inclusive which is probably not bad considering the time of year.

Hi Chrissie,

The Airlines that mainly serve North Cyprus have not issued the winter schedule yet so no agent or opertaor can sensibly (honestly) offer you the winter flights.

You will know on here not long after we do.

Chrissie,

Our winter programme will be out in a few weeks time, out of respect to Izzett(who operates his own Travel Company), I wont post my business details on this forum.

Gary
