Sakine Mohammadi e Ashtiani faces a horrible punishment for an act of nature: sex. But apparently sex outside of marriage is volatile enough that this woman deserves to be executed by stoning. At least some people in Iran think so. She will almost certainly be murdered by a corrupt "justice" system in a most excruciating way unless WE do something about it. This petition is that something. Although stoning is sadly not terribly uncommon in some parts of the world, saving one person from this atrocity could help to build the movement against inhumane punishments and executions worldwide and promote more justice in troubled nations like Iran. YOU have power to help stop this, the choice is simply yours to do it or not. I urge you brothers and sisters, for we have no more room for hate in our world, the free MUST remember the forgotten. This is simply our duty to our fellow human, to stand up for her when she cannot.

I have signed the petition and hope that many others do as well.

Just an idea and please be assured, it's not meant to offend anyone.

Could you not direct this to the "Greek Cypriot Action Group" who campaigned against JLo's Gig and ask them if they could find it in their hearts to support this petition to try and save this lady? They seem to have a powerful lobby.

John that's not such a bad idea! If they can get so many signed up in just a few days to stop J Lo then why not for this good cause - but would they lift a finger to help a Muslim woman? I doubt it!

Just been on BBC news - they have backed down at the last minute due to overwhelming worldwide condemnation! Not clear yet whether she will be hanged instead.

THe poor woman's life has probably been so infernal that, gastly as it sounds, she will welcome her hanging as blessed release.



Unfortuneately, hanging in Iran is not the same as most Europeans and Americans know it........

I lived and worked in Iran - it has gone back to 12C - females are 2nd class citizens, whereas (as in Iraq) they used to be independent and more free to be themselves - beautifully dressed, run their own business, high educated...........there were still exceptions where women were subjugated by insecure, uneducated, often illiterate dysfunctional inadequate males, but in general their lives were no better or worse than many other places on this planet. All the protests in the world won't save this woman's life. As long as you have a Faith within which extremists decree a woman should be covered (because males are so weak they will ravish her otherwise) ergo - every male is a rapist? as long as you have that gormless, power and control - mindset obtaining, there isn't a hope. You would get more sense talking to a brick wall. It is noteworthy that most Faiths have 'sex' involved in their paradigms - pathetic - and why I choose to think for myself rather than a book think for me

This barbaric custom is dying out in Iran, I hear, as 'only' about 1 or 2 a year actually suffer this fate.

Yet, a woman in Iran who almost certainly murdered her famous football lover's wife, has somehow

survived after a fiasco of a trial. Very hard to understand their reasoning, or lack of.

you know and i hear you, but my lovely waiter from afganistan tells me different. I sat him down the other night as when he came about the job he told me he was a student. I found out different. so i asked him why he came to cyprus. It appears he was a journalist and working also for womens rights. For an agency set up there. The horror he told me i cant tell you. Anyway he cant ever go back. He feels he has a family with us and of course he does as we will protect him. He is my boy.He also told me that Bin Laden is only a photo not real its all properganda to scare us. well they did that x

Thank you all for signing for this poor woman, I have it as a set tab to make me thank my lucky stars that I live in modern times.. and Lilli, you are right a lot of what we see are not true or is somehow put out into the media to lead us to believe otherwise..

But we have no option than to trust what we see and act accordingly.. I dunno, I just feel sorry for everyone and despair when people are horrible to each other.. isn't life too short?
